Hop-On-Hop-Off is more like "Mob-On-Mob-Off" at popular stops, especially the Vigelandsparken sculpture park. It would be helpful for the company to have a process that allows passengers to disembark before permitting others to board. Also, our driver did not announce our stops, so we missed the Viking Museum venue, which was at the top of our list. The map HOHO provided was ambiguous about the route. Our alternative was to stay on the bus for another one hour-plus loop, which our schedule did not permit. When we complained about this to the HOHO staff, they told us it was our responsibility to listen for the stops on our earphones, despite the fact that the earphones were difficult to use and the narrative was not easy to understand.
Just the best way to get around and see the sights in Barcelona. There are three different circuits of the city, and you can join any of them you want on your daily ticket, and get on and off as you please. The bus features recorded narratives which you can use if you want (with free earphones). Sitting on the top gives you great photo ops and perspectives. Barcelona (at least the parts we saw on the circuit) is a beautiful, fascinating city, and the tours give you a great overview.
After a long flight from Washington, DC, (via Paris), it was great to avoid the hassle of finding transportation into Barcelona. We were greeted by our driver, who whisked us into the city in an air-conditioned Mercedes sedan. So while you can get into Barca for much less, I felt the indulgence was well worth it!
