This trip is okay for a quick taster of the cities. A lot of time is spent on the bus getting from one city to another.
Barcelona to Madrid is particularly long and wasn't helped by the fact that the driver remembered he had left his suitcase in the hotel 45 minutes into the journey so we had to go back. The stop in Zaragoza was pleasant, there was a church feast day happening when we arrived. We got to our hotel in Madrid about 18:30 and were leaving at 07:30 the next morning which only gave us time to freshen up, find somewhere to eat and then sleep, so I've no real idea of what there is to see in Madrid! On the way to Seville we stopped at Cordoba and visited the Cathedral where we had a knowledgeable local guide. In Seville we had 2 nights, we had a guided tour the next morning taking in the Alcazar and the Santa Cruz area. The next day we headed for Granada where we visited the Alhambra Palace, we took an extra walking tour in the afternoon and the extra flamenco show in the evening. Do not do both as the evening dance show also includes a 60 to 90 minutes walk around the area we had done in the afternoon. We also did not get back to the hotel until 1AM and had to be up at 6:30 for the drive to Valencia. The drive to Valencia entailed a change of bus part way, as some of us were doing a different tour to the others. We left the tour in Valencia after a guided tour of the city.
The hotels in general were fine, we opted for the superior hotels, mainly because I have special dietry needs and we thought I might have more chance of coping food wise. The hotels in Seville and Valencia had included dinner and the catering people did try. Usually these are buffet and I was taken through what I could eat and asked if I wanted something grilled, the first night was fine but the second night was a set meal.
