Vieux Fort or North Island, St Lucia
Personally I did not rate this particular activity. There are 20 different lines you zip along of different heights and lengths. After the first 7/8 it felt a bit like same old thing again. Also I found it tricky to be looking around at the vegetation and at the same time avoid the tree branches, some of which get quite close as you are zipping along.
Others in our group thought it was fantastic, but personally I did not rate it.
Castries, Saint Lucia
This was so much fun. We had never used a Segway before, but they are really easy to handle as long as you don't start horsing about on them. The trail we went on was off road and we also went on a stretch of beach. One guy got into difficulties and ended upon getting whacked on the head by the handle bars. A stark reminder of why you should not mess about on these things and also why we were told to wear safety helmets. No doubt about it he would have been knocked out cold if it was'nt for the helmet.
Tour guide was a really nice chap and even stopped at fairly regular intervals to show us different trees and explain their medicinal properties. Made a stop to try some of the local fruits and another for a few shots. Definitely would recommend the Segway, is a really fun experience.
What a fantastic bunch of people, the crew on our boat. They were continually interacting with the crowd, pointing out different places of interest and generally making sure we were all having a good time.
We chose to go to the mud baths, which was a unique experience. The smell of the sulphur is not pleasant, but it was not too strong either. You get into the baths first and boy is it hot. One chap made the suggestion that rather than just stand in it with your feet first, it is better to fully submerge yourself in the hot! Hot! Hot! Water and it seemed to work. After this you get out and then rub the mud all over your body. Then it's back into the hot water to rinse yourself off. Somehow the water did not seem as hot second time round, maybe our bodies had climatised to it.
Our guide was great and very knowledgeable, stopping at regular intervals in the Forrest to point out the local flowers and plants, as well as telling us about each ones medicinal properties.
I definitely have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this trip to anyone. A fantastic day out and we even got right up close to the pitons and a great photo opportunity.
