Dubai, United Arab Emirates
This was quite disappointing. Despite the shuttle from the port to the actual route being full, it was chaos as no-one explained whether the bus was going on the red or blue routes until the other bus had left. Distances between points of interest are long and the traffic is horrendous so it takes twice as long as it is supposed to do. A feature of this tour is that at almost every stop the bus sat for 5 or 10 mins for no apparent reason and then the ticket inspector got on to check tickets with further delay.
The included Dhow cruise was the highlight and the creek/souks area was interesting but the rest was a description of shopping malls and hotels from traffic jammed highways.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The tour was OK but no-where near as good as other city based open top bus tours. Distances are quite long between places of interest. We went from the cruise port and there is a shuttle to the Iranian market where we had to wait quite a long time for the actual bus to arrive despite our driver repeatedley telling us it was just 2 minutes away. As we were waiting in in Arabian sunshine we stayed in the bus but the air conditioning had broken down. A reasonable way to see the expanse of Abu Dhabi but don't expect too much.
