Plimoth Plantation Living Museum Day Trip from Boston

Boston, Massachusetts

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Our tour guide on the bus was fabulous. He took us to a large monument in Plymouth that honors our forefathers and I had never even heard of it before. It was made a couple of years before the Statue of Liberty and it was used as the inspiration for the Statue of Liberty.
Plymouth Plantation was a wonderfully done living museum. I enjoyed the reinactments and the actors there. Wonderful to see history come alive. Unfortunately the MAyflower II was in dry dock.
We found Plymouth to be a quaint and walkable town. We had plenty of time to explore.

It was ok. A good way to see the city. We had a few quick stops. Glad we did it. Not much in the movies is the real thing, so you see parts of this and the exterior of that. Our guide was a personalbe young lady that did a great job.

American History Tour: Cambridge, Lexington and Concord Day Trip from Boston

Boston, Massachusetts

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

Disappointing. Unfortunately the driver/guide seemed to be under time constraints and therefore we made very short stops when visiting Harvard. We had 15 minutes to get off, walk up the streeet, thake a picture of a statue and get back. I would have liked to have a bit of a tour of the campus, maybe go in the museum. Then off to Lexington, 20 minutes there to walk the green, use a restroom, visit a visitors' center and reboard. But most disappointing was the time in concord. We had hoped to get off and visit the bridge where history happened. The guide said we would have 20 minutes, changed his mind, drove thorugh with no stop and back to Boston.

My Review

It was a rainy day, nothing the tour guide could do about that. Bascially, the tour we bought was a bus ride to the ferry and back. Because it rained, we paid an additonal $36 to have a 3 hour tour of the island. Our guide was very knowledgable. The "Camp" where the gingerbread cottages are was lovely and fun.

Fun, lively, and a great introduction to the city. It helps you get your bearings and see where you might want to revisit. We were there on a foggy day and therefore the water part was less than exciting. It wasn't possible to see the skyline.
