I had read bad reviews on this tour before going but thought to myself, these may be overcritical tourist and as someone who lived in Italy for 8 years I expected more but was sadly disappointed.
The biggest issue we had with the tour was the fact that our hotel, Grand Hotel Vesuvius, was allegedly a FOUR STAR hotel yet it was a dump in every word. Examples of such were: Stained pillows and sheets, everything in the bathroom was either rusty or the paint was chipping off, the carpets in the hallways were stained and smelled like mildew, the AC was noisy, the paint was chipping off the entire exterior of the hotel, the furniture was dusting and paint chipping, the gym was laughable, outlets were falling out of the wall and the service was awful.
In addition, the Tour was very disorganized and had us waiting several times in parking lots or on a curb for the next bus as if the bus was some relay race with the participants as the baton. In Pompeii we waited for nearly one hour in the sun with our luggage for the next bus.
We were corralled and treated like cattle.
In Capri the Blue Grotto was closed, which is likely to happen 2 out of 3 trips, so we took a quick tour of the shore. However after that we were dropped in a shopping area, then lunch, then dropped into another shopping area. As anyone going to Capri I would rather learn about the history or go to the beach but we did neither.
Our last day in Sorrento the bus picked us up at 3:15 PM but we didn’t get to our next hotel until 10:00PM (6:45 on a bus). The tour guide or chaperon really, named Juan, was a jerk from the get go. I could write more but I am sure you get the gist. Our main complaints are the way we were treated, how disorganized the tour was and how DISGUSTING our hotel was.
Too much, too quickly.
The tour was not very informative.
The Colosseum ticket is not included and you have to buy one to go on the tour. Seems shady that the ticket is not included if you have to buy one to participate.
After purchasing the ticket to the colosseum for 15 Euros, one would hope that the colosseum would be worth it but instead we were there for only 15 minutes.
Overall the tour was not informative and quite disappointing. Having been there before I had to fill in to my g/f and other tourist where the guide fell short.
