Lunch in the Cotswolds from London

London, United Kingdom

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

I was a bit disappointed with our tour. One of the first things our tour guide did was tell us that one of the major stops in the Cotswolds was not available to us that day due to road work. He said he would add something equally interesting to fill in the gap. What he added was an extra half hour or 45 minutes in Stratford and an extra half hour or so at one of our other stops. Disappointed I wondered why we didn't go to see Ann Hathaway's cottage (very closeby). Also, we arrived back in London an hour early , due to that he said he would drop guests off at major hotels. That may have pleased 25 people on the bus but we were in a small apartment at th opposite end of London so ended up having to be dropped off regular time at Victoria Station. It was what we planned for our 2nd last day in London so thought it would be a lovely relaxing day At the lunch stop over, we were seating with a group of people from our tour. The two ladies beside us were Londoners who just wanted a nice day trip. All they did was complain about the food the entire time, one in particular kept calling one of the servers over. First it was to discuss the fish which was too bland, then to discuss the dessert which was totally inacceptable by her standards. Sheesh, the meal was pretty darned good to me!

My Review

I cannot say enough about our trip, it was everything I expected it to be and more. Our tour guide (Alan) was so entertaining and looked every bit the Scotsman right down to his kilt. He chatted with us the entire time, keeping it interesting and informative and he had a terrific sense of humour. My two sons (25 and 27) accompanied me they groaned when I had first told them we'd be on a 'bus tour' over 12 hours long. Like me, they were thoroughly entertained and hated to leave Alan and the other new 'friends' we made on the tour. Mother Nature didn't co operate completely but heck, I was expecting that. I was pleased that for 3/4 of the day, it was warm and sunny and I was able to see the white capped mountains in the highlands. I would love to return and go when the heather is bright purple. When we were there, it was dark brown good thing I have a vivid imagination) Anyway, I would highly recommend this wonderful day trip. Go for it, you won't be sorry!
