This was an excellent tour with a native English speaking guide who had tremendous knowledge about WWII and Dachau in particular. The site is quite moving and our guide was able to tell stories of actual people in the camp, how the camp operated, and how it came to be a preserved memorial site.
Our guide also moved us through the public transit system to get to the camp and back which was very helpful. All travel costs and arrangements were part of the tour price.
W spent five hours at the camp and my one criticism was that our tour was so detailed and comprehensive, there was not enough time for the exhibits in the museum part of the camp. That being said, much of what was explained in the exhibits was part and parcel of our guide's presentations around the camp.
A moving experience; an excellent tour. I would highly recommend this tour. I got so much more out of it than I would have if I had gone on my own.
We had a wonderful day on this tour. The bus was very comfortable, our driver was very personable and our bilingual guide pointed out many sites and traditions along the route from Munich to Linderhof, Oberammergau, and Neuschwanstien.
We did not have to wait in lines for tickets as this was taken care of by our guide, saving us time for touring and taking photos. She even made a group reservation for lunch at the base of Neuschwanstien as it was a weekend day and likely to be more crowded than usual. Each individual on the tour could take advantage of the reservation or not. We did and the restaurant was quite good
Both castles are beautiful to visit and the touring for so many visitors is efficiently handled so you don't feel the crush that you do on some tours.
My criticism would be the stop in Oberammergau. While our guide pointed out very interesting things as we rolled in to town, we really did not get to experience the beauty of this town with the fascinating paintings on the outside of homes. This stop was really nothing more than a short shopping stop that we could have done without. I would rather have had the opportunity to explore the village and its art.
Despite that criticism, I would highly recommend this tour.
