This is a typical city tour type of experience, which could be enhanced by having a longer period of time at the summit overlooking Verona (for photos, etc.). We had 3 minutes - which they meant quite literally. And, as we were taking photos, the bus began pulling away! Not appreciated folks! The tour guides were knowledgeable. Again, it was more along the lines of a typical city tour experience, so we'd still recommend it to Verona visitors.
While we would recommend this splurge to Firenze visitors wanting to get out of the city to see other towns in Tuscany, we were disappointed with our trip because the weather and poor tour guide planning ruined our experience. The Siena portion went quite well though the tour guide kept changing the meeting place in a very odd, confused manner; while in San Gimignano, we experienced a deluge (to put it mildly) and there just wasn't a Plan B. The tour guide was soaking wet, wondering around looking lost. She did not know how to get in touch with the bus driver. The bus didn't return for an hour as we stood there in the rain and then finally moved, en masse, into a grocery store that grudgingly accepted us into their lobby. It was a mess - and a shame, since all other Viator tours have been awesome! Better planning by the tour guide(s), I think, could have minimized the unfortunate turn of events.
We do recommend this tour, which is actually two tours separated by several hours (one in the a.m. and one in the late afternoon). We did find that both museums are so filled with visitors that there wasn't an actual "Skip the Line" advantage. We noticed on both counts the 'regular' visitor lines accessed both museums well before us! Having a detailed tour while in the museums was quite nice. One must be interested in art at a specific level (which I am, but companions were not) to appreciate this offering. The tour guides are experienced art professors. They also pick the pieces they wish to stop in front of and expound upon, so know your art, know what's kept at each museum, and make sure you step outside the group to see what you traveled to Italy for!
We loved this tour, and especially the tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable, very personable, and she made the tour interesting at every opportunity. What a treat! Oh, and The Last Supper was awesome, too!
