When we arrived to start the tour our names could not be found on the list. Many phones calls later we were told that the tour would be to the glacier first then whale watching. This was not what we had signed up for - our tour was supposed to be a city tour, whale watching and then Mendenhall glacier. Again after many phone calls later we were put on a whale watching trip first but we had to wait one hour before that commenced. I know there were a lot of ships in port that day but the organisation of the tours was very poor. We infact did not get to do the city tour.
After all the mix up we did thoroughly enjoy the whale watching trip and the glacier was majic.
Although the day was overcast, cool with light showers we had a fantastic hike. Our guide was very knowledgeable and looked after us well. It was just amazing to think that we walked on part of the trail which was the main route to the Klondike during the gold rush era, although back then the path would have been 100 times worse. Our float trip was great and we were fiting out with all the necessary equipment. We aware that you probably will get a bit wet from sitting on the edge of the raft.
