Whale Watching including Gullfoss and Geysir Express Tour from Reykjavik

Reykjavik, Iceland

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

A great day! A very relaxing afternoon excursion during our stay in Reykjavik. In the three hour tour, we saw several Minke whales and a few dolphins. We passed Puffin Island, though were only able to see them from a distance. Our guide was great at pointing out the whales, keeping everyone engaged, and pointing out the major landmarks as we sailed further out of the harbor. We passed Mount Esja, could spot the location of the Blue Lagoon, and passed the mountain that was the inspiration for Journey to the Center of the Earth. Truly a great day!

Viking Horse-Riding Tour and Blue Lagoon from Reykjavik

Reykjavik, Iceland

My Rating

My Review

What an INCREDIBLE experience- definitely a must-do while visiting Reykjavik. The Viking horse farm is family-run and is situated on Videy Island, in Reykjavik harbor. The staff is warm and friendly and is overly generous with their time. Our horseback riding tour was supposed to be two hours long, but our guide so how much we were enjoying it and gave us an extra hour of trotting and cantering (the second half of the tour splits into beginners and more experienced riders). The views of the island are idyllic and truly breathtaking. I could have stayed for another few hours! The Blue Lagoon was another surreal experience- a hot spring in the midst of lava fields, where people from all over the world gather to relax and enjoy the wonder that is Iceland.

Olgerdin Brewery Tour from Reykjavik

Reykjavik, Iceland

My Review

What a wonderful first evening in Reykjavik! This tour is both a physical brewery tour and a historical tour of Iceland's quirky prohibition past. As the guide walks you though the years of Iceland's alcoholic bans, you sample the popular drinks of the time, drinking as much or as little as you'd like. I recommend doing this early on in your stay- it's a great way to meet other travelers, hear their recommendations, and sample drinks from Iceland's history! Our guide was bubbly and enthusiastic too.
