Royal Castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Day Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

I highly recommend seeing these two castles, but I'm not convinced that this tour is the best way to do it. The first thing to note is that the admission costs for the castles are not included in the tour cost so the tour guide comes around to collect money (cash only) during the ride to Linderhof. Since there are two castles, and they are quite a distance from Munich, we did not have adequate time to explore at either location. When you arrive at the city where Neuschwanstein is they explain that you can walk up the hill, go on a shuttle, or get a carriage ride and then you spend all your time trying to walk up or wait in line for the shuttle. Then our tour guide told us not to take the shuttle back down the hill because there would not be enough time after our tour of the castle and it started pouring so we were soaking wet and after walking down we still had about 20 minutes before departure, so we could have taken the shuttle.

Romantic Road, Rothenburg and Harburg Day Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Rothenburg and Harburg are both cities worth visiting. The tour guide gave us background information while traveling to each city and we were left to explore each town by ourselves. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to have a little bit more time at each town.

Bavarian Beer and Food Evening Tour in Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This tour was a great way to learn about Bavarian food culture and taste it too. You are able to try a been at the meeting point before leaving for the tour, then you go to a beer museum, which is nothing impressive, but it gave our guide time to explain the beer culture and history to us and you do a beer tasting, next was dinner, and then they dump you at the Hofbrauhaus brewery if you want to drink some more. Dinner was the highlight because they serve you a variety of Bavarian foods on a plank of wood. Be forewarned that if you order drinks at dinner YOU PAY FOR THEM!

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Small Group Tour from Munich

Munich, Germany

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This tour is obviously a somber one, but the tour guide was great at educating us about the events of the camp and not being too graphic. We had structured time where she walked us through various parts of the camp and we also had a little bit of free time to go back to areas we wanted to explore more.

This is a great way to get around the town and see what places you want to explore more. We got off at the Royal Gardens, Olympic park and Marienplatz. The Royal Gardens were absolutely beautiful and worth exploring.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
1 star rating: I do not recommend this

My Review

The tour guide spoke Italian, English, and Spanish which I thought would be great except that she talked so fast that we could not understand her. By the time you realized she was speaking English you had missed half of what she was saying and her accent was pretty strong. Murano and Burano were worth visiting, but the time constraints did not allow us to really see either island. They dump you in the glass factory and a lace store so that you will buy things and by the time you look at the wares there is only about 30 minutes left. Torcello was not even worth visiting at all.

Skip the Line: Venice in One Day Including Boat Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This tour covered a lot of the important sight seeing parts of Venice and each person has headphones with a receiver so that you can always hear what the tour guide is saying. Note that the afternoon boat tour is NOT A GONDOLA RIDE. It is in a small boat that seats about 10 people and explores the grand canal. Both parts of the tour were informative and provided good insights into the culture and history of the island.
