Seville Day Trip from Malaga

Malaga, Spain

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

What a disappointing day from the beginning! The bus was half an hour late. Our guide miss-counted when we left the stop-off point for morning tea and we had to return for two persons, another half an hour gone. Our guide intially was informative and funny but his sexual inuendos and lengthy narration on muslims in spain became somewhat tiresome. Because we were an hour late we got 20 minutes at the Pavillion and a 40 minute tour of the Cathedral. Our guide for the Pavillion and Cathedral was obviously annoyed but did her best to show us around as quickly as possible. Prior to the tour of the Pavillion our day guide suggested that there was nothing for tourists to do after 2pm as everything would be closed and instead tried to sell a river boat cruise. There is plenty to do and see in Sevilla and the Palace was open for visitors even though he specifically said it wouldn´t be. Had the best tapas I have had in Spain at ´Pimenton´ on G.DE VINUESA. We were told to be ready for the bus for 4pm, so gave-up sight seeing of city centre to get to meeting point on time only to have to wait 30 minutes for the bus. (Two people had decided to take the river cruise and it had run over time)

Granada Day Trip from Malaga, including the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens

A great day. The Alhambra Palace is an amazing example of architecture from this period. The harem is now open to the public after restoration and is stunning. The gardens even though just past their ´spring´best were still beautiful and give great overall views back to the palace. Our guide Luccia, was well informed, friendly and courteous to those in the group with less mobility. After having some luch on our own and wandering the citry for a couple of hours we were then driven up through the old city and to a viewing point back across to the castle and gardens. The afternoon gives you an overview of other things that you might choose to visit in the city at a later date. Our guide for the day managed the group well and was able to communicate in four languages to the group.

This is the first tour I do in any city i intend to spend a reasonable amount of time. I have never been disappointed yet. A great way to understand the layout of a city, particularly if you also have a map in hand while doing the tour. You get an over-view of most of the key places to visit. I do the entire tour first, then pick my preferred first visit and take the tour to that point `(usually the one furthest away from where I´m based in the city) and go from there.he first tour in any city i intend to spend a reasonable amount of time. Key visits were the castle/fort, Cathedral and the Contemporary Arts Museum, which is ´the´best contemporary art museum I have been to yet.
