The tour guide was very knowledgeable and effective. There was very little said about the aqueduct which was surprising since it was a highlight. I thought we were going to revisit it at the end but that did not happen. The castle and cathedral were interesting. I think the large group detracted from my experience. Probably, it would have been better if we had those headphones that I have seen for larger tour groups. That way, I would not have missed anything that was said. Also, I was spoiled by the smaller tours in Barcelona that were so very fascinating -- Dali and Montserrat/Cava tours.
I am conflicted about Montserrat because it really isn't that old since it was destroyed by Napoleon and rebuilt. I did not realize that. Having said that, the natural surroundings were very nice and we took several hours to walk up the steep path to the top and back down for a nice workout. That did not leave enough time to see the artwork on site. The cava cave leg of the trip was not bad. It was somewhat difficult to follow along with the extremely pleasant representative because her English was not that great. I think it would have been enhanced if we actually got to taste several levels of their product. I think we were only slated to taste one but the representative could not resist having us try two. So, that was nice.
Exceeded my expectations. I really wondered why this tour was rated so highly. Fantastic tour guide. Fantastic trip into the life and mind of one of the world's great artistic talents. He was a weird guy but what an artistic genius. I would do this tour again.
