You're kind of on your own. There is no interaction at all with the bus driver. You are solely listening to an audio taped explanation. Don't get off at the Dutch Quarter. That was our big mistake. Get off at the palace. There is really only little shops and some food at the Dutch area. You are really just buying transportation.
The personal guide was great. He was Extremely knowledgeable and couldn't do enough for you. He even arranged for us to get off at a closer stop to our hotel. The tea and butter almond cake are great and so were the crepes. It's a three to four hour trip, so relax and go with it.
Our guide through Venice was kind of boring. She was so textbook that most people just tuned her out. What a shame to travel all that way to Venice And get stuck with a dud. It's just something you can't do over. The gondola ride was ok, but the driver of the gondola was rude. He never said one word except sit properly, don't lean and get your foot off my cushion. Not a kid friendly tour.
