Cinque Terre Day Trip with Transport from Florence

Florence, Italy

My Rating
1 star rating: I do not recommend this

My Review

Was really looking forward to this trip but sadly we cannot recommend it - the boat was taken off ( nobodys fault) but this meant that we were at the mercy of the local train service and spent most of the time waiting on station platforms for very crowed trains. Tour rep very good tried her best but with 60 people on crowed trains trying to round everyone up during 5 different destinations and not loose anyone was a nightmare. Save your money and another trip. We took our 2 sons (17 and 14) really bad decision.

My Review

We booked both the morning and the afternoon tour on our first day so as to see as much as possible and then decide what we wanted to go back to. It worked really well. Both tours were very good but I have to mention the morning tour with Rosalind - it was the best tour we have ever had - anywhere - she was so knowledgeable and made everything come alive. My husband and I went with our 2 sons (14 and 17 Year) and when asked what their highlights of Florence were both included this trip and mentioned Rosalind personally. We were very privileged as we were the only people on the trip that day so had her all to ourselves - really really wonderful - thank you Rosalind! The afternoon trip was also very good - again were were only a small group = 7 - so that was also really good - able to ask questions etc. Great trips, very good information and introduction to Florence.

We really enjoyed this trip - Francesca our guide was wonderful - full of interesting stories and very knowledgeable about her subject. My husband and I took out two sons (16 and 13 years) on their first trip to Rome - really good introduction to all sites visited. Francesca kept us all interested right to the last minute - I would happily recommend this trip.

Pompeii Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Review

I feel very happy to recommend this trip - my husband and I took our two sons aged 16 and 13. Our guides for the day - Sarah and Violette were really very good. It was a long journey - set out from Rome at 7.30am back about 8.30pm and without them the bus journey could have a bit arduous - as it was they made it an interesting part of the day with info and stories about the areas that we were travelling through as well as what to expect when we arrived in Pompeii. They were very approachable and nothing was too much trouble. They even set aside time on the return journey to come down the coach and ask everyone individually if they had any questions about Rome that they needed help with - e.g. where to eat, public transport - anything - we felt that this was beyond the call of duty (after all it had been a long day for them as well) and much appreciated by everyone. Pompeii itself was well worth the visit - our guide Enrico was very knowledgeable and found shade for everyone on a very hot day! Our meal stop was enjoyable - I was pleasantly surprised, the cafe was spacious, very clean and the food (we all had the Margerita pizza) was really very nice. We did not have to wait long before being served as we had pre ordered our choices on the bus prior to arriving thanks to Violette and Sarah. Vesuvius was wonderful - we really enjoyed being able to climb up and enjoy the view - our sons were particularly pleased with this part of the day, the climb is quite steep but if you are reasonably fit and take it slowly then it shouldn't cause any problems and you have plenty of time at the top for pictures etc. Just a point - the gifts at the top and more expensive then at the bottom - for the same things. The trip itself was very well organised - left when it said, arrived when it said and did all the bits in between at a good pace - ensuring that everyone was looked after - thank you Sarah, Violette, Enrico and Viator!

I am very happy to recommend this trip. My husband and I took our two sons to Rome for their first visit - 16 and 13 years. Our guide for the Vatican museum was Andrea who was really wonderful - she was able to find shade outside and space inside were there was none! Also she gave very good information and kept everything very interesting. The museum is vast and you could spend years of your life in there and not see everything but I did feel that this tour gave us a good taster and our sons really did enjoy it. In fact when we got home and I asked both of them what they had enjoyed the most whilst in Rome (we were there a week and did see a great deal) my 16 year said said 'it has to be the Sistine chapel' and my 13 year old said 'for me it has to be St Peters' So a great success! In the afternoon we had Lindy for our guide - very good - I really enjoyed visiting the Basilicas Lindy gave us a lot of information and again - very interesting. Thank you both.
