Skip the Line: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica Half-Day Walking Tour

My Review

I'm going to be honest and say I only booked this tour because I felt like I "had" to go to see the Vatican Museum. I really thought I would be bored, and was tempted to just skip it- I am so glad I didn't because the entire tour was incredible. The guide (Peter?) made the whole experience fascinating- he was so enthusiastic that you couldn't help but be absorbed in what he was saying. The group were great too and despite the museum being PACKED, it was a really wonderful few hours. Highly recommend!

Skip the Line: Ancient Rome and Colosseum Half-Day Walking Tour

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

I was really looking forward to this tour- I love history and was really excited to see something I'd read about in books since I was really little! The tour was good, but a few minor things- the guide seemed very determined to follow a script despite the group quite obviously losing interest. It just felt like enthusiasm lacked from the guide and the group felt it....by the time we got to Ancient Rome, a few had left, others had stopped wearing headphones and were just taking photos. It was really hard to stay interested despite actually being interested. Don't get me wrong- it was interesting and I am glad I went but if that had been my first and only experience with Viator, I wouldn't have rushed to plan more tours with them. Worth it for skipping the lines and the added extras of ancient Rome.

Small-Group Rome Food Walking Tour: Trastevere, Campo de' Fiori and Jewish Ghetto

Rome, Italy

My Review

INCREDIBLE! I can't speak highly enough about this tour- from the moment we set off, until the moment we all hugged each other goodbye, it was nothing but an absolutely wonderful experience. One of my favorite quotes is, "people who like to eat are the best kind of people" and that definitely applied to our guide- she was great, giving us a wonderful rounded experience of Roman history, culture, food....a tour of the city, tips about modern day Rome (which were great for the rest of my trip), an otherwise overlooked part of Jewish culture and history in Rome which was of particular interest to me. And the food.... I have some food allergies which I was worried would be a problem- don't let allergies or food restrictions put you off this tour! If anything, it's a good reason to DO it because you can get lots of advice from a local about how dishes are prepared and what things to look for when you are in Rome! The food I was able to try was incredibly, the value for money for this tour was unbelievable and the memories and experience? Priceless. As cheesy as that sounds. If you only do one tour during your time in Rome, do this one....
