The canal cruise took a different route to most similar trips. The trip was advertised as including some refreshments. However, there were samples of local meats and cheeses, nuts, and a bottle of red and white wines on each table, plus bottled water. I was a solo passenger and could have drunk all of this wine, and asked for more - of course, I did not! The walking tour of the Red Light District was interesting indeed, and our guide took us through some parts of the city that I had not, nor would really want to, discovered before. We were led down Amsterdam's narrowest street, where there was barely room for people to pass. Part way along this alley (street) were yet more windowed rooms occupied by very attractive and scantily dressed ladies. My trip was on a Friday evening and at 10:30pm the whole District was very busy, with packed street cafes and bars, as well as people simply wandering round and enjoying the sights and atmosphere.
The guide spoke in both English and German, to accommodate a large party of German tourists, although the trip was advertised as English. I did not find this an intrusion into my enjoyment.
I took this trip in preference to the similar offering from my cruise ship, which was nearly four times the cost!
Highly recommended to any adults.
A great way to see the main sights of a city. The driver stopped, when it rained, to slide the roof across, and then again, when the sun shone, to open it again. Therefore, we stayed dry and enjoyed fresh air ans sunshine, whilst viewing a very nice city.
The tour was really good. A knowledgeable guide, efficient headset system, and a wonderful, unfinished, building. The guaranteed skip the line was not too important for us, as the queues were not vast. However, this will be a great bonus for others at very busy times. The only negative was that we had to wait outside for several minutes whilst the guide went into the venue to obtain our tickets. We felt this could have been undertaken prior to the tour, to speed things along.
