We had a great time with this tour. This is a must to anyone visiting Rome. The charism of Pope Francis and the energy of the crowd on Saint Peter’s square was amazing. We were blessed in so many ways. Nina, our tour guide was fantastic. Her passion and her energy were containgious. She made sure we had a great spot. So, we were literally a few feets from the Pope. Amazing experience.
This is must do tour. Especially if you are Catholic or Christian, the Vatican Museum is a must. We had the best guide at the Vatican, Maurizio. He is extremely knowledgeable, great energy, patience to answer all questions and control the time very well. Grazie Mille Maurizio. Without his explanations of paintings and sculptures, we would not be able to figure out on our own what we were looking at. He educated us all on the paintings, the history, and made a take notice of things we never would have thought of. He was a history lesson in motion. Also, the group tours end inside the Saint Peter’s Basilica, so you are left to explore the church at your leisure. If you were on your own, you would have to leave the Vatican Museum and get in a separate line to go back into the Basilica.
Strongly recommended this tour.
Assisi is a wonderful city. My wife and I loved it. Besides the historical value of being the birth place and city of Saint Francis, Assisi is a must see city in Italy.
However, we don’t think the tour is well planned by the operator. Our guide Stefano was fantastic. He made everybody feel comfortable speaking 4 different languages. But this, in my opinion, is one of the down side of this tour. I believe they should arrange the tour based on the spoken language. We caught ourselves distracted many times, because Stefano had to give the information in 4 different languages. And many times the place he was talking about had already passed.
We felt rushed in Assisi and we did not visit some places which were described on the tour.
1) The house where Saint Francis born.
2) The Convent of Santa Chiara (Saint Clare)
3) Town of Santa Maria degli Angeli to see a 9th-century basilica where St Francis of Assisi worshipped.
I honestly would prefer to go straight to Assisi, skip Orvieto, and explore more the city and the Basilica of Saint Francis. We spent about only 20 minutes inside the Basilica. This is not enough to see and learn about Saint Francis’s life. I understand some people still enjoyed Orvieto but we spent too much time there. Maybe put that at the end of the tour. Or my suggestion is to skip the lunch. Even though we were served a nice lunch, I would prefer to have the lunch on my own in Assisi and explore more the city.
To complete our “bad experience” with this tour, one couple of our group missed the bus to return back to Rome. And we had to wait for 40 minutes inside the bus hoping they would arrive. Because of that, we arrived late in Rome. But this is not the tour operator’s fault. I blame the couple who never showed up and wasted all our time. Once in Rome each one was dropped off as “close as possible” of their hotel. Luckily we were the second couple to be dropped off. But we’ve heard couples who took almost 1 and ½ hour to get to their hotel.
My wife and I made this tour from Florence. We loved it. Elena, our guide, was very courteous and informative.
Our guide in Siena was also very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name. The Duomo in Siena is fantastic. We had the lunch offered by the tour and we really enjoyed it.
San Gimignano is a must see city in Italy. It looks like you are in a time machine. Wonderful city. Besides that has the best Gelato in the world.
Strongly recommend this tour.
We booked these tickets in advance. And we had no problem to exchange the voucher for the tickets with the tour operator representative in front of the Galleria. This is a must to anyone visiting Florence, since it is the home of the original David by Michelangelo. Book in advance though. You may stay 2 to 3 hours in lines if you don’t have tickets. We did not hire a guide though. The Galleria is not that big compared to other museums. If you move fast as we do, one hour is enough.
