We booked the Skip the Line Vatican tour with Viator and when we finished the tour we were so impressed with the service provided that we also decided to book this tour. Booking a "skip the line" tour is one of the best ideas I've had in many years. There is so much to see in Rome, and if you have only few days, you definitely don't want to spend it waiting in lines.
Each and everyone got a small radio device and earbuds, so it was very easy to hear what the guide had to say.
Our guide in the morning tour was Natasja and she was amazing. She was so knowledgeable that she could talk constantly for 3,5 hours and she had so many interesting things to say about the Colosseum and the Ancient Rome area. It was almost like she knew every stone in the city! Thanks for everything Natasja!
The afternoon tour was not as impressing as the morning tour, although our guide Emanuelle was very knowledgeable and kind. They stated that it would last around 3 hours, but 30 minutes were spent in a galleria drinking coffee. I would rather have finished earlier than spend time drinking coffee. Rome is very warm and crowded in July, so I recommend that you wear your best shoes and bring water.
We took a Saturday tour, but apparently the Pantheon is closed on Saturday afternoons so we couldn't visit this time.
A wonderful tour that I would recommend to anyone who wants to visit the Vatican. I had been there before without a guide and it was beautiful - but going there with a educated knowledgeable guide made it so much more fun than in the first time I visited. Our guide Susanna told us so many interesting things that people all around the place was missing as they were not with a guide.
Each and every one of the group got a small radio device and earbuds so it was easy to hear what the guide had to say, even though she was far ahead of you (which happened a few times as the museums are VERY crowded). The tour ended in the St. Peters Basilica where we could explore for as long as the Basilica was open.
The line through the main entrance was 100-200 meters when I arrived at 10 o'clock in the morning so there must be at least 2-3 hour waiting time for this who do not have "skip the line" ticket. In a 35°C heat, that is unbearable.
Highly recommend this tour, but wear your best shoes and don't walk much before the tour starts, as your legs will get tired. Bring water.
