Simpson Bay, St Maarten (St Martin)
Saba is a beautiful island with the hiking trail to Mount Scenery. The trail gets extremely steep and slippery towards the top, so bring a walking stick and hiking boots. The 90 minute boat ride to Saba from St. Martin was not too bumpy. On the way back, the ocean swells were 12'-15' and the waves were completely covering the boat. The boat would go into a swell and back out. It felt like I was on a roller coaster. Definitely had to take 3 motion sickness pills on the way back. Just be aware of the very bumpy ride back.
This excursion is done on The Edge boat through the Simpson Bay Marina.
Philipsburg, St Maarten
Many people say this was the best excursion ever and that is why I booked it, but it was not that exciting. You ride an inflatable jet-ski through the very rough ocean water for about 40 minutes. Then you come to a snorkeling spot (a rock out in the middle of the ocean) and snorkel for 20 minutes. After that, you get back on the jet-ski and go back to the port. There was no "rock 'n roll" part of this excursion. If you want to rent a jet-ski, this is a cheap option, but if you are looking for a fun experience, this is not it.
St Maarten (St Martin)
This excursion is done on The Edge boat through the Simpson Bay Marina. The captain was Anka and she explained everything we would need to know about the boat ride to St. Barts. It is rough going to St. Barts, but not as rough coming back. Nobody got sick on the boat, but many people took a motion sickness pill just in case.
St Maarten (St Martin)
At the airport, there will not be a person waiting for you with a sign, so you need to go to the Tourist/Information desk and request the name of the company and the woman at the desk will help you find the person who will pick you up.
It is cheaper to take a taxi than have someone pick you up. It is about $15 for a taxi from the airport to Simpson Bay. The taxis wait outside the terminal and you can just pick one up.
