Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Overall, this is a great trip, as long as you know one thing before you go: it's essentially a driving tour with a few stops along the way. You cover a lot of ground, see a lot of Highlands beauty, but you spend most of your time in the van. Having said that, I really recommend the trip, especially if you're not from the area and don't know a lot of the history. Just the history lessons along the way would be worth the price! Our guide and driver were both excellent. My only negative is about the Loch Ness boat trip, which was pretty heavily pushed by our guide, but I didn't find it worth the extra money, and not all that interesting. (You get on the boat, go out into the loch a little ways, turn around and come back. Meh. Now, if Nessie had decided to nuzzle the boat at some point, it would be a different story!) He said a number of times that there was nothing to do in the little town if we didn't go on the boat, but I found it charming and would have much preferred hanging out there for an hour or so, coffee in hand. Other than that, though, the trip was great and worth the price.
