Have been to this before but some changes have been made since last visit. Still an enjoyable tour and definitely recommended. Was very busy when we were here so my patience was tested a bit. Didn't spoil the enjoyment too much although quite a long walk before getting to the entrance. Booking online meant we skipped the queue which was a bonus!!
There are 2 start off points - A and B. You think that this would take you on 2 separate tours as they operate at different times (there is a 5 minute walk apart from them). Had to wait a very long time for a bus although buses did stop many of them were too crowded. There were people constanting annoying you and trying to sell hats/water/sun umberellas etc. There was a problem with the sound from the earphones and the channel had to be changed. This resulted in us losing some of the information along the route as the bus didn't stop until the situation was rectified. We have been on many Hop-On/Hop-Off tours before i.e. London, Edinburgh, Valencia, New York, York and this was by far the worst. We ended up getting off part of the way round and walking the rest!!
Had to wait initially 15 minutes as we wanted to eat inside. When our table was ready the member of staff advised us it was outside!!! Had to wait another 10 minutes. We opted for the diamond menu. Caesar salad and burger were lovely but nothing spectacular. The ice cream sundae came with walnuts through it which we weren't told about and my husband couldn't eat it as he doesn't like nuts!! Would I go for the deal again - no as it was nothing startling and you can get this kind of meal anywhere. In future I would opt for a traditional Roman cafe and choose pizza or pasta anytime :)
