My wife and I were in Paris with our two young daughters (ages 9 and 7) for only a couple of days recently. The Eiffel Tower was the only thing that they REALLY wanted to do in Paris. Having never used Viator previously I was unsure how the "skip the line" tour would work and if it was worth the money. All of that went away once we actually skipped the LONG, HOT, SWEATY lines and went straight to the elevator that took us up to the second level. There we had 15 minutes to roam around and take in the sights before the official "small group tour" started. Ben was our tour leader and he was BRILLIANT. He was a from Britain and obviously knew his history, not only of the Eiffel Tower, but of Paris as well. We took about 10-15 minutes going over each of the four sides of the tower and Ben pointed out various landmarks and points of interest so that you went away with a bigger appreciation of the tower and Paris in general. Ben did a great job!
The directions and instructions were clear and there were no hiccups or small print that came back to haunt you. Show up 10 minutes before you tour time to check in, skip the CRAZY LONG lines and head up in the elevator, learn a ton of neat information about the tower, and your ticket gives you access to the elevator to the top if you so desire. The line on the Level 2 to go to the top only took 10-15 minutes for us. It was certainly worth doing on your own, especially because your ticket includes this option.
This was a 5 star experience for sure. I can't emphasize enough how I wanted to giggle at ALL the poor, sweaty people that were waiting in the long, hot line when we arrived at a quarter until 10am for the first tour of the day (and it only gets hotter in August). Our plan B was to get there at 9:30 and hop in line with everyone else and I'm so glad we booked this tour. Best decision of our trip for sure!
