Salvador Dali Museum, Figueres and Cadaques Small Group Day Trip from Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

We took a Viator’s Salvador Dali Museum, Figueres and Cadaques Small Group Day Tour in August 2013.

The idea of the tour was wonderful - a small group (in our case seven people) with English speaking guide in a comfortable minibus. But just one little detail, we were able neither hear nor understand our very pleasant (I should admit) tour guide. During our entire trip she was apologizing for her “very poor English”.
I stated above that we were unable to hear the guide. There were multiple reasons for that. First of all, most of the information was presented while we were driving. The guide was also the driver. Second, it was not an easy drive because it was raining most of the time. Consequently, the guide had to concentrate on the road and, at the time, deliver the speech. The only people able to hear were the couple sitting next to her. The rain and the very soft voice of the guide, very successfully, rocked the rest of the group to sleep.
We were left alone most of the time while in the Salvador Dali Museum. Our guide gave us a brief introduction. She also showed us selected well-known Dali’s masterpieces and left us alone, for a little over an hour, giving us the opportunity to enjoy unbelievably talented work of the great master of surrealism. Oh, yes, she also oriented us to the museum and outlined the most interesting work presented. After we finished touring the museum, our very pleasant guide asked if we have enjoyed it. To our very honest answer: “ It was absolutely amazing, but we would appreciate it more if you would be with us”, she replied that we should consider ourselves lucky that she gave us that much information because her colleagues do not even do that.
The Gala castle was overcrowded with tourists. Because of that reason, the curators were not allowing the guides to explore the castle with their groups. Again, we got a very brief outline of the rooms in the castle and their belongings and were sent to “enjoy”.
