Shared Departure Transfer: Hotel to Narita International Airport

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

When I was in Tokyo, coordinating with the company that handled the service was easy. Although it says it was a shared departure, I had the entire van to myself and although we traveled during the "rush hour" time of 5-6pm we did not experience any significant traffic. Plus, the driver was extremely courteous but who in Japan isn't? Highly recommended if you're not familiar with using their public rail transportation which would cost a little over $30 for coach and $46 for first class.

Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

If you're going to see Mt Fuji, DO NOT go during the months where the humidity is high in the winter months. I learned the hard way. When I went just recently in September, it was the rainy season and the weather is already very fickle and it's even more so around the mountain. When we got to the base, there was a thick fog that shrouded everything and visibility at times was only 50-100 feet. It was very disappointing.

The Lake Ashi cruise lasted about 20 mins but the weather was clear in that area and the lake was very nice. It would have been nice to actually take more time around the water.

With regards to the bullet train, we took that returning to Tokyo. Going to Mt Fuji the tour group went via bus. On the return, it's already dark so it's hard to really appreciate how fast you're actually traveling. Quite honestly, it was so fast that I felt like I was on a Tokyo subway train going from station to station.

Tokyo Studio Ghibli Museum Afternoon Tour

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

A great experience! Our tour guide Miki was wonderful and the museum was enchanting. This is a must for any fan of Miyazaki or anime for that matter and was the best tour I had during my stay in Tokyo. The only draw back was the group started by meeting at the Sun Route hotel which was a little tough to locate if you get out of the wrong side of the Shinjuku station and don't have a smart phone to guide you.

Tokyo Highlights Afternoon Tour and Sumida River Cruise

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

I had already taken the Panoramic Tokyo Day Tour the day before and this one recapped a few of the places we went to. The new additions that were different from the day tour was the viewing from the observation floor of the World Trade Center building and the boat ride up the Sumida River. The one plus about this tour was it wasn't as rushed as the Panoramic Day tour. Just because it wasn't so rushed was a big plus and in many ways more preferable to the day tour. However, the afternoon tour did not go to the Meiji Shinto shrine which was quite beautiful and deserves a repeated viewing.

Panoramic Tokyo Day Tour - Meiji Shrine, Asakusa Temple and Tokyo Bay Cruise

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

A somewhat rushed tour but that's probably because there's so much to see although the end of the tour was odd. We stopped at the Aquacity mall and saw a replica of the Statue of Liberty with the famed Rainbow Bridge behind it. However, our final destination was Tokyo Station where there were tons of opportunity for me to take photos of the beautiful train station and of the buildings around the area.

Shared Arrival Transfer: Tokyo Narita International Airport to Hotel

Tokyo, Japan

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This was my first time traveling to Tokyo and my first time on my own in a country where I didn't know anyone and could not speak the native language. I was so grateful that this option of getting to my hotel was available because I didn't know how to use the rail system and wasn't even sure if the airport buses would take me directly to my hotel. It really takes the stress out of things when I got out of gate the driver was waiting with a sign with my name on it. I was fortunate and had a car all to myself and the driver dropped me at the hotel without any problems. Very highly recommended for the first time traveler. Since I'm more experienced now, I may adventure out an take the train to the nearest station near my hotel but honestly after a 10 hr plane flight I don't mind paying another $20 to be dropped off at my hotel doorstep.
