Our guide was really bubbly and knowledgeable. Even though it was really busy walking through Dubrovnik she found alternative ways round. The tour started with a bus trip up to a good panoramic viewpoint of the city and coast. We had a couple of hours to wander on our own then either stay or get the minibus back to the ship.
A couple of things to watch out for is the information Viator provide up front.
They referred to the international port where the cruise liners dock as the “Port of Gruz”, when we asked on board no one knew that was its name
More annoyingly Viator tell you to meet in the “big white building” – every building is big and white! It took us 40 minutes to find the “main terminal building” – better still would hav
Lastly the trip was excellent value, only 6 of us on it instead of the cruises 30+ and a fraction of the cost.
Hop-on hop-off are similar reliable the world over.
Easy to find just outside the port entrance.
We took one bus up tot eh Acropolis, and wandered easily around that our selves. We then decided to do the tour round the city, about 80/90 minutes. Because it was in the middle of the day, in August 30 degree heat, we did not have the energy to jump on off. We probably missed out and it would have been easy to walk round the Olympic stadium and new museum. However we only wanted a good overview.
A couple of things to watch out for are the low overhanging trees and the queues at the Acropolis -
Lastly the trip was excellent value far cheaper and more flexible than the cruises own excursion
