Venice Marco Polo Airport Private Departure Transfer

Venice, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

For us, this service would be the only way to go when departing Venice. While it is not a luxury service, it is certainly expedient and efficient, and the taxi is very clean and comfortable. The customer service was great, both with the company when I called to confirm and ask for a change in pick-up time, and especially with the meet and greet host. We were picked up promptly, and had no worries whatsoever. When we return to Venice, we will definitely use this private departure transfer again!

Skip the Line: Vatican Museums Walking Tour including Sistine Chapel, Raphael's Rooms and St Peter's

Rome, Italy

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

This was a tour that is definitely worth doing. I can't imagine taking in everything we did at the Vatican without the information and advice provided by our guide. This was a whirlwind tour, but filled with such magical art, that I would gladly do it again. The only reason I rated it a 3-star tour is that it was... well, a whirlwind!

Ancient Rome and Colosseum Tour: Underground Chambers, Arena and Upper Tier

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This tour was AWESOME! We lucked out and got a tour guide who has a Masters degree in archaeology, and he was the best! The secrets of the Colosseum, the tour of the underground chambers, the awe of the arena, and the unbelievable panoramic view of Rome from the upper tier, not to mention being able to see and touch intact artifacts that predated the birth of Christ... all worth every penny... and more! There is no way that we could have taken in the majesty of the Ancient Rome and the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Colosseum without this tour. From the directions to the meeting place, the efficiency of the Dark Rome team, the impeccable English of our Roman guides, this was perfect. I am so glad we took this tour and would HIGHLY recommend it whether this is your first or fifth visit to the Eternal City; it is definitely worth it!

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

While this was not my favorite tour (it got to be a bit boring after a while), it is definitely worth doing. Keep your expectations within reason, and it will be fine. It may be a bit macabre by its very nature, but not in least bit scary, although I wouldn't have taken my children. The tour was informative and took us back several centuries, but it pales in comparison to some of the other tours we took in and around Rome.

Pompeii Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Another WINNER for Viator! This was an unbelievable experience! It was as if we had stepped back in time as we walked through the streets and visited the houses of Pompeii! Our guides were professional and experts in history. We learned (and saw!) a lot of really interesting things. I continue to be amazed at the ingenuity of the Ancient Romans. The hike up Vesuvius is certainly thrilling, and a "must do" on the bucket list, not to mention the views of Naples and the coast line from the summit of the volcano! One of our BEST tours. I don't think there is anyway one can "oversell" this tour...I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Rome!

Roman Gladiator School: Learn How to Become a Gladiator

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Awwww... Pietro (I mean "Marcus Valerius")! There are times that a good event becomes a GREAT experience because of the people involved... this was one for us!
What does one give a man who doesn't need anything, but loves the buzz of adrenalin, adventure, and the fun of connecting with his "inner boy"? Well of course, the experience of Gladiator School!
This was perhaps one of the most fun days we had in Rome, thanks to Pietro at the RGS! It started out as a typical Friday 13th (yes!) where everything that could go wrong, did. We got lost, arrived an hour late to our lesson, should have been turned away, but were kindly accommodated. Pietro put my husband through the paces, staying in character the whole time. He was professional, attentive, and truly amazing! We both appreciated the courtesy of his giving a lesson during his break, and when we toured the museum, the information we learned about the reality of being a gladiator was nothing short of astounding.
This is a "must do" tour, whether you're male or female, 5 or 95! They tailor the class to your fitness level, and are very attentive to your needs. A fun event, and well worth doing! Make sure you bring your camera so you can video tape the "evidence" for friends at home.
Oh... and our "bad luck" changed after the class. Thanks to Pietro, we were in a good humor and enjoyed the rest of our day.
(Tip: take the advice of the School and arrive by taxi. It's easy to get the directions confused.)

Florence Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Everything you ever hear about Florence is true! It's beautiful, romantic... the whole place is like an amazing art museum.
Our tour was great! The guide was very well-versed, and her information about sights along the way really helped to frame our impressions of what we saw and learned later on. Who knew that there were walled Medieval cities high up in the hills along the route? Once she pointed them out, we were able to look for them and take pictures as we sped along the highway.
Depending on the time of year you go, you'll be dazzled by fields upon fields of sunflowers along the way. I didn't want to sleep or even rest my eyes for fear that I would miss something on the journey through the beautiful countryside.
Florence is an amazing city, and if you can go for only one day, this is the way to do it. They have complimentary pick-up and drop-off at your central Rome hotel, so you don't have to worry about taking the Metro early in the morning. Also, the bus stops for bathroom breaks and to get coffee and snacks, so it is a very comfortable ride. The day is long, but wonderful. You will also have an opportunity to have free time to walk around Florence on your own between guided tours. We loved that! I highly recommend this tour.

Skip the Line: Best of Barcelona Tour including Sagrada Familia

Barcelona, Spain

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This was a really great tour, although we mistakenly thought we were getting more than we did. The tour included entrance to the Cathedral, but we could not go to all areas without another ticket. That was the only disappointment.
However, our guide was very informed and well-versed in the history of Barcelona, and her English was impeccable. On this tour, we got to go for a snack at the Market where we sampled some of the fresh Cataluyan food and drink. We learned a lot about the city and especially the influence of the architect/artist Gaudi. He was a fascinating genius, and through the expertise of our guide, we got a small glimpse into his incredibly creative mind. This was a great experience and one we would recommend if you keep your expectations within reason. On this tour, you will get to experience a panoramic view of the culture, art, artists, and history of Barcelona, so that if you have an extra day, you can go back for a more in-depth tour of some of the sights pointed out on your tour. I highly recommend it!
