A wonderful half day trip. The hotel pick up was on time and we were at Rockingham within about 45 minutes. After time for a coffee we boarded the very comfortable boat and headed out to sea. Maybe we were lucky but we found dolphins within about 20 minutes. We had already donned our wet suits and been given instructions on how it works. We were split into 6 groups of about 6 in each and when told to go, entered the water and by holding onto the person in front were towed around looking at these wonderful creatures. Magical! After about an hour we moved on (their licence restricts the time permitted for interacting with the dolphins). Moored in a bay we had lunch and swum off the back of the boat before returning to shore. All the staff were very enthusiastic, knowledgable and encouraging.
Why not 5 stars?
The minibus could have been a little more comfortable.
Also, with my wife and I both in our 60s and new to snorkeling the instruction could have been a little clearer. I was OK but my wife struggled a little and had to sit out a couple of the swims as she regained her breath and confidence.
Otherwise fine. The took photos of us in the water and posted them free of charge on the internet. They responded very quickly and efficiently to my query on how to download the photos.
A very interesting and entertaining day.
Wave rock itself was great but it is a long way to travel to see some shaped cliffs.
In my view the best thing was the driver / guide who was very knowledgable and gave us an excellent insight into the life of the farmers and how life has changed for them over the years.
The stop at the cave to see the cave paintings associated with the aboriginal legend was worthwhile as was the tea stop at a town with a current population of 9 who are trying to raise money to keep the local school open.
A good trip and recommended.
The down side?
It was a long day with a lot of driving - of course not much can be done about that! It was. However a comfortable air conditioned coach - necessary as the temperatures reached 42 degrees.
The lunch provided could have been better and, in my opinion, the stop at the dog's cemetery was only useful as a means to stretch my legs..
