2-Day Trip to Delphi and Meteora from Athens

Athens, Greece

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

Well it’s a good tour and I am glad that we went with them rather than trying to do this ourselves. On day one we visited Rhodes; however we did not stay long. Viator has 3 tours at Rhodes. The four-day tour arrives early and leaves early. The one-day tour arrives late and leaves late.
The two day tour starts you off by feeling like the ugly step-child. You start on the one day tour and then you are switched into the four-day tour, so your time is restricted and you can’t go to the top, or the museum. The only seats on the four-day bus are the back 3 rows, and the tour guide makes no attempt to talk to you or introduce you the group.
Absolutely no eating on the bus and you get driven to an out of the way restaurant (not included) where you may either pay for a meal, or not eat. Then you get driven to another hotel to pick up more guests, and then during the drive north you visit two freeway rest stops, since there are no facilities on the bus.
The Hotel is supposed to be four-star, but the industrial grade carpets are attached to the floor with screws, and every exit door is locked so you can’t go outside.Dinner is served and it is clear that the staff do this every day and are in a hurry. The budget four-course meal is served so fast that the third course arrives while we are still eating the first course. Breakfast was 8:00 to 9:00 for 9:00 departure. All the four-day people got there early and at 8:30 the buffet was bare. At 9:00 more arrived, presumably for the next breakfast group.
The bus picked us up and took us to Meteora which is stunning. The guide turned out to be knowledgeable and between 9:30 and 11:30 we visited 3 of the 8 churches. At 11:45 we had a restaurant recommend for lunch (Not included) we were dropped off and picked up at the same location 1 hour later.
We thought that we would spend the day at Meteora and arrive in Athens late, but the 11:30 departure from our converted destination got us back to Athens by 5:30PM.
