Phillip Island, Australia
Better information is needed before people book this trip. The opening and closing times need to be made clearer. We travelled a long way to try and enjoy all three parks, however, when we arrived at the farm they were just closing at 4.30 pm. We then rushed to the Koala Sanctuary only once again to be told they are only open for a further 30 minutes. Finally, we went to the main attraction we were very excited to have the option to enjoy this, however, as the penguins only start their parade late and therefore finish late, it is then a long car journey back to Melbourne. The main point being what do you do between 5.30 pm and 9 pm when the penguins appear. We were in a hire car and could not stay for the penguins as the area is dark and not well sign posted for the long journey back to the city.
All good, great views, great food. However, the hour and a half made the visit too rushed. We were constantly checking our watches to make sure we did not over stay our sitting. Do not attempt to go up early as the time starts once seated and there is no other option to take photos etc before eating.
Most of the staff are not well trained on this tour. They had little knowledge of how the combined trips work. We had paid for all three, the bus, the Manly Ferry and the Harbour Cruise. Manly was certainly worth a visit, this has a lovely beach, however, when we got back to the Circular Quay we were advised by the staff the last ferry to Darling Harbour was due at 5.20 pm and the did not arrive! We had to pay $15 for a taxi and was very annoyed. In all fairness when we emailed a complaint to the manager we were refunded this cost and given a free coffee cruise to say sorry for the poor show. The bus is supposed to be a regular circular route appearing between 10 and 15 minutes, this was not the case, in fact at one stop we actually waited 50 minutes. It was not stated that a separate bus had to be caught for one of the main attractions, Bondi Beach, and this also caused lots of confusion to the bus tours customers.
This tour was too rushed, not a cheap trip and therefore needs to be given more thought into where people are taken. The Orchid Gardens were lovely and even though the guide was great he agreed there was not enough time there. We really loved Singapore and as there is so much history we were rather surprised the places they took us to did not reflect this. Finally, the bus left some 25 minutes late and we were back earlier than advertised, this is not good value for our money.
