Small-Group Tuscany Wine-Tasting Tour from Florence

Florence, Italy

My Review

We were a party of seven and had our own van and driver. He gave us a lot of info on our way to the Chianti region and was very personable. We learned a lot about chianti at the first vineyard from an employee who was funny and knowledgeable. We did a wine tasting and had the option to buy or ship wines home. We saw old cellars at the second winery and did a tasting with lunch. There was no winery employee there rather the two drivers served our lunch and conducted the tasting. They were great even taking group pictures for everyone. A fun day's tour!

Tuscan Cooking Class and Dinner in Florence

My Review

This was the best experience! The chef at the cooking school was so funny and knowledgeable. We were split into four groups at the cooking stations and each made an appetizer, homemade pasta which was fabulous, a chicken dish, tiramisu. The chefs were helpful and kept things light hearted while teaching us. They were great with my 16 year old constantly joking with her and telling her to "cook for your family" when we left. We ate the dinner we prepared in their wine cellar and it was fabulous!!

Experience Florence: Tuscan Dinner in a Florentine Home

My Review

This was for my family of 7. The home was also a tiny B and B so nicely set up. The man who met us and walked us to his home was very nice and gracious. The meal was delicious although not what many Americans might expect from a Tuscan meal. There was a smoked duck appetizer, carrot soup, salad, hen, panna cotta. Wine is available to purchase for cash and reasonable priced. We enjoyed ourselves very much until the end of the meal when the chef came out to see how we enjoyed the meal. She stayed for a long time and went on quite a tirade about American students coming to study in florence and not learning to speak Italian. She said this knowing we were in florence visiting our daughter who is studying abroad. Our daughter takes Italian as one of her courses but the chef mocked her pronunciations and made everyone uncomfortable and made me quite angry. This excursion is a great idea but ours took a wicked downturn.
