Karlovy Vary Day Trip from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This was a great day trip if you want to see the other areas of interest besides Prague. The town was fairly concise and you can walk its entire length in no time. There were plenty of shops to go in, some of which were on the higher end. Our tour guide was nice and informative. We had a beautiful day and a nice lunch.

Cesky Krumlov Day Trip from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This was probably our favorite tour. It is a well preserved medieval town. We had a great day weatherwise and there were many shops and restaurants to choose from. The Czech Koruna is definitely the preferred method of payment over US Dollars, Euros and, in the restaurants, credit cards. It is a really picturesque, quaint town. The only down side was that the walk up to the main entrance of the town was strenuous.

Full-Day Tour to Prague Castle and Vltava River Cruise with Lunch

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating

My Review

This is a great tour with which to start your visit in Prague. It provides a great overview of the various areas of interest around the city. Prague Castle was very nice and the lunch was very good. It should be noted, however, that you do need to purchase your own drinks so have some Czech cash on hand. The beer is less costly than the water! We lucky in that the German President was visiting on the day we were there--what a bonus! Good, comfortable shoes are a must as the sidewalks as well as the roads are made of cobblestone which would be difficult with any type of heel. The river cruise was just okay.

Dresden Day Trip from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

It was a cold and rainy day. We left at 9am and stopped at a rest stop about 10:30am. However, since we had just eaten breakfast before getting in the van, we were not interested in eating at that time. When we got to Dresden, it was quite crowded because it was their Labor Day. The line at the art museum was 15 minutes long and the guide did not want to wait on it. So, I said I was more interested in the porcelain anyway, we headed there. When we were done there, we looked at the art museum and the line was still there; so, we walked around the castle gardens. We then went to the local shopping mall and walked around there for awhile. Around 3:30 I asked the guide if we could go to a restaurant that accepted credit cards so that we could have lunch/dinner, which we did. Afterwards, I just said that we could leave Dresden at that point because we were very tired from walking so much. We were the only two on the tour and I think it would have been much better if additional people were on it so that it wasn't so much one-on-one with this particular tour guide.

Prague Folklore Party Dinner and Entertainment

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

This was a very nice and enjoyable evening-a nice diversion from the typical type of tour. The food was very good and the wine was non-stop. I had to hold my hand over my glass to stop them from refilling it. It's always nice to do something "folksie" in a new country or state and this was no different. The only small complaint I had was that the wooden chairs were not very comfortable for my back towards the end of the evening.

Small-Group Food and Beer Tour in Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Well to tell you the truth, I am not a big beer drinker. However, I'm game for most things and tried a lot of different beers-some more unusual than others (one smelled and tasted like smoke). I did enjoy visiting the 3 pubs and had a lovely time. Our tour guide was very nice. We had a good time and I would recommend this trip to anyone.

Terezin Concentration Camp Day Tour from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I had never been to a concentration camp before and it was a very humbling experience. From the prison to the Jewish Ghetto and museum, the living conditions were just deplorable. At the end of the prison tour we saw a Nazi propaganda movie and at one point it told how Hitler annexed the Sudetenland from Czecholslovakia because 90% of the people living there were German-speaking Czech. It just startled me to the bone because of recent political events in the Ukraine.

Kutna Hora Day Trip from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I'm a bit jaded here because my ancestors emigrated from Kutna Hora in 1871 and 1880. It was very important for me to take this tour if none other. I was not disappointed (although in the future, I think I would spend a day or two here). Our tour guide, Sarah, was very informative and personable. It was a beautiful day to see a beautiful town and learn the history of its mining activities. The Ossuary (Bone Church) was very interesting as was St. Barbara's Cathedral.

Glass and Brewery Day Trip from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Years ago I visited the Corning Glass Factory in New York where I saw their modern glass blowing techniques. I was quite impressed with this tour since the process is accomplished in a much more traditional manner with brick ovens. If I did not already have a large glass/crystal collection, I would have bought many pieces at the shop as their prices are fantastic. We also visited the Pilsner Urquell Brewery where you view a movie about the history of the brewery and can tour their operations. In addition, we went into the cellars where they aged the beer in large wooden barrels. We were also able to taste the beer straight from the barrel. It went down very smoothly. We enjoyed the tour and our guide was very nice.
