Johannesburg Airport Shared Arrival Transfer
Tour / Activity
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
My Review: Dorothy was on time, patient while we converted $$ to ZAR, and provided an interesting commentary on the sights as we traveled from the airport to Sandton. And, it turned out we didn't have to share and had a private transfer! You might be as lucky as well!

Pretoria Half-Day Sightseeing Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
My Review: Our tour guide was named Lucky and we were lucky to be assigned to him!!! He was extremely knowledgable about all the sights, from the Voortrekker Monument to the current houses of parliament in Pretoria, to the Kruger House and Museum. He was even able to arrange a viewing of the original room where parliamentaians met!

Lesedi Cultural Village Day Trip from Johannesburg
Tour / Activity
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
My Review: An absolute must see. I was concerned this activity would be "Disney-esque" but it provided us with a real sense of the history of the black African people in this country, which we found to be a useful reference as we met new people throughout our trip. As a bonus, the food was wonderful (don't be afraid to try the crocodile or the octopus) and the scenery on the drive from Jo'Burg was beautiful.

Rise to Freedom Tour: Soweto and Apartheid Museum
Tour / Activity
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
My Review: Phineas was our tour guide and was incredibly generous in sharing his personal and professional perspective on the history of the township and its people. He also made a few side stops for us. Your perspective on life will be changed by a visit to the Apartheid Museum; I had a wonderful and unique appreciation for the meal my husband and I, black Americans, enjoyed at an upscale restaurant in Sandton that evening.

Johannesburg Half-Day Sightseeing Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
My Review: Absolutely no reflection on our pleasant and knowledgeable tour guide, but there just isn't a lot to see in the Johannesburg, CBD. We greatly appreciated the drive through Houghton to get a sense of how the "other half" lives, to pass by Mr. Mandela's residence, as well as the historical perspective Andrew shared on the mining industry and other aspects of South African history.

Private Half Day Tour to Madaba and Mount Nebo
Tour / Activity
Location: Amman, Jordan
My Review: Our driver was not the best tour guide, but Mount Nebo was definitely worth a stop, especially if you are thrilled, as I am, by the religious significance of its being where Moses first saw the promised land. Madaba was a bit of a yawn.

Private Half Day Jerash and Amman City Sightseeing Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Amman, Jordan
My Review: We travelled throughout the Middle East and thought these were among the best preserved Roman ruins we saw. The gladiator show is billed as the only one actually held in a real hippodrome--extra charge. DO note that the driver is NOT your guide, and if you want a guide you will need to be prepared to pay a fee. Our driver selected an excellent guide for us. Not much to see in Amman City, however, so you might want to do that on your own.

Private Tour: Istanbul in One Day Sightseeing Tour including Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace
Tour / Activity
Location: Istanbul, Turkey
My Review: Excellent guide, excellent tour. Stay in the old city for a real taste of history. Only watch out is to confirm that you are on a private tour--we booked one, but were linked with a lovely trio from Saskatchewan, Canada. Many thanks to Viator for our speedy refund!
