Shared Departure Transfer: Costa del Sol Hotels to Malaga Airport

Costa del Sol, Spain

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

Our party of 3 was picked up at our hotel in Estepona at 220 am for our 645 am flight from Malaga in a minibus with a trailer for our luggage. The drive was roughly an hour to the airport but the minibus drove past the airport for approximately 30 miles to pick up another party. We arrived at the airport before the ticket counters opened at 445 am. The driver was alert, polite, and very helpful with the luggage. However, it would have been nice if he informed us that he would be picking up passengers on the other side of the airport and how long the trip would take. Since the other party was located out of the way to the airport from where we were coming from, it would have been better if another van was dispatched to transport the other party to the aiport. We made it to the airport safely and in time.

Cordoba Day Trip from Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol, Spain

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

We were the first passengers to be picked up at our hotel at 615 am. The tour bus was clean and modern. The tour guide, Paco was polite and knowledgeable. He conducted the tour in 3 languages: English, Spanish and German. He was flexible and permitted an unscheduled emergency bathroom stop. We arrived at Cordoba to visit the Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba which is on the UNESCO world heritage site. The Mosque cathedral was very impressive and we were in awe of the magnitude and scale of the building, the different phases and transformation of the mosque into a cathedral. Our local tour guide, Maria Jose was calm, and knowledgeable. She also led us on a walking tour of the Jewish quarter as well as the Arabic quarter. We had some free time to explore the area and to grab lunch. The one thing that caught us by surprise was the prevalence of smoking by tour guides and tourists alike. Being from the Pacific Northwest in the United States, we are not accustomed to second hand smoke. This negative exposure was most noticeable by my 11 year old son. Perhaps this negative experience will make an impression on him to deter him from smoking in the future. With all the other stops along the way to drop off the other tourists, we were the last ones to be dropped off, returning to our hotel after 8 pm.

Gibraltar Sightseeing Day Trip from Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol, Spain

My Review

We were the last group to be picked up in the modern air conditioned coach and as a result, our group of 3 was not able to sit together. Our tour guide Annabelle was professional and knowledgeable. She conducted her commentary in English, Spanish and German. Due to an incident between Spain and Gibraltar, the border crossing was unusually long and we needed to cross the border on foot. Soon we discovered that there were not enough seats in the English speaking minivan for our party of 3. Luckily, we were able to join another local English speaking tour guide from another tour company. The local tour guide, Martin was friendly, knowledgeable, positive and funny. My 11 year old son who sat next to the tour guide/driver appreciated his humor. We made several stops: European point, St. Michael's Cave, and a stop to view the monkeys. We had enough free time to tour the shopping district and eat lunch. We met up with our original tour group and walked across the border and went throught immigration quite easily. I would recommend this tour! It is nice to experience a bit of England so close to the Costa del Sol region of Spain.

Granada - The Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens

My Review

We were the first tourists to be picked up at our hotel at 630 am. The tour bus was clean, modern and air conditioned. The tour guide, Damien was polite, knowledgeable and conducted the commentary in English, Spanish and German. Some of the other pick up points were along the side of the highway in the dark. There was a scheduled stop at a roadside restaurant where we were able to use the bathrooms and get a bite to eat. We arrived at Granada and stopped at St Nicholas' view point where we were greeted with a beautiful panoramic view of the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains, the Alhambra palace and the town of Granada below. We had about 10 min to take photos. Then we boarded the bus again to the city center where we had some free time to explore the city and eat lunch. The next stop was the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens. We were greeted by our local tour guides who split us into smaller groups based on language. Our local guide was very knowledgeable and answered our questions. The Alhambra is a must see. We were very impressed by the beauty, importance in history, the architecture and the beautiful detailed artwork of the Alhambra. We were impressed by the differences in style and architecture between the older Alhambra and the newer architecture of the Christian influence. The only suggestion I would have is to allow a little extra time at the end of the tour for a stop at the gift shop.

Shared Arrival Transfer: Malaga Airport to Costa del Sol Hotels

30 - 60 minutes

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

We were greeted by the transportation representative with a sign with our name on it. He was polite and helpful and directed us to the elevator to find our bus. The bus was a clean, modern, air conditioned coach. We were the first people on the bus. We waited for over 30 minutes before a group of other passengers arrived. The bus took stopped at one hotel where the other group got off and then we were transported to our hotel. The driver was very helpful with our luggage. The only thing that would have made the trip better would have been if the driver informed us that we would be waiting for another group of passengers and that it would be about 30 minutes. It was frustrating not knowing why and how long we would be waiting.
