Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'

Milan, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

It's a lot to do in a few hours but there were good highlights. The Last Supper is a great ending to it. I would change the description though because there is no "tour Duomo"; it's more of a "visit Duomo square." I had put off going inside the cathedral thinking we'd see it on the tour and I missed the inside completely since it closed soon after the tour ended (earlier than our tour guide had told us). The opera house tour part was a nice treat, though. The bus tour is a tad quick on views ("if you look to the right..." and if you're on the left, you miss it). Tour guide Emmanuela was informative and knew her stuff.

Skip the Line: Best of Venice Walking Tour including Basilica di San Marco

Venice, Italy

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Sometimes these tours can be noted as architectural highlight tours but in Venice that helps since what the building looks like tells you when it was built. Good highlight tour, some good views from different angles. I enjoyed the "this may have been Marco Polo's house!" part of the tour, it was a little silly. The information on the Basilica was interesting.
Venice, though, should be on the forefront of the climate change fight. That Venice isn't sinking but the water is rising was brought up on two Venice tours, and they are passionate about it.

Murano, Burano and Torcello Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

This tour can easily be booked when you're in Venice and get advice first. I booked this and then heard that three islands is too much for one outing (and it was). And then I heard (from the two other tour guides I walked with) that Burano is your best bet for an island outing. You can also get there using public transport for much less money.
The tour guide spoke both English and Italian for the information but spoke so quickly that you could get much from either language. Being out on a boat is nice but it's too much like a bus tour. Too little time on the islands.

Venice Ghost Walking Tour

Venice, Italy

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

I ended up going on three ghost tours in three different cities in three weeks and this one was by far the best of the bunch. Cristina, our guide, didn't try to be a character or a ghost expert but she was an expert. She knew her city's history and shared it with a great passion that showed how much she cared and made us care, too. She brought us through passageways and told us of murder and mystery and history in such a way that it did come to life. It's easy to get lost in Venice but she was a terrific guide through it all.
One thing I think about ghost tours, though, is that the name should be changed to something like Dark History and Legends since sometimes people come in with weird ideas about what to expect.
But this ghost tour was well worth it all.

French Wine and Champagne Tasting in Paris

Paris, France

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

The Oh Chateau class was great. Richard was funny and informative. I feel like I know a little more about wine; I'm no expert, but what he told us made us all feel a bit more confident with wine. Or maybe that was just the wine. Either way, a good time.

If you like opera or architecture, this tour is a great option for a morning in Paris. It's a beautiful building and the information behind the details make it more interesting. You could just walk around the place but a tour is recommended.

Paris Ghost and Mystery Walking Tour

Our tour guide was American, so that lent itself to certain American sensibilities in storytelling. He made for a fun outing, having us almost expect to see ghosts walking along certain lanes.

Skip the Line: Paris Louvre Museum Guided Tour

Paris, France

My Rating
4 star rating: Recommended

My Review

Obviously, if you go to Paris, you should go to the Louvre. It's nice to have someone give you all the information, and this gets you to the famous highlights without getting lost in certain galleries. You do walk from an outside shop, so the first half hour of the tour is getting through the park and to the museum, so take that into consideration.
