My Review

I have been on this tour before, but went this time to take my children. I loved it! The representatives of Dark Rome were punctual and well organised. and our guide Christiaan, was by far one of the best guides I have had, he was knowledgeable on the history of art and all things Vatican, he was able to put all this knowledge across competently in good English, and in a witty manner keeping our attention at all times. And to just add the cherry on the top we were taken to see rooms which I had not seen before,, I would highly recommend this tour!

Pompeii Day Trip from Rome

What an enjoyable tour! Giovanna and Roberto were full of life and fun. They kept us well entertained the whole trip to Mount Vesuvius with interesting tales of the places we passed through! Robert also gave us a geology lesson while going up mount Vesuvius to the point where we would have to walk. Unfortunately I heard little of what he said as I was petrified at all those hairpin bends the bus was negotiating. Welldone to the bus driver who got us there in one piece :) Climbing to the crater was hard work, but it was well worth all the effort! Would do it again without hesitation! Pompey was fascinating and honestly sent shivers down my spine. The local guide was just as much fun as Giovanna and Roberto! By far my favourite tour! Highly recommend this tour especially if you are lucky enough to have Giovanna and Roberto as your guides!

Florence Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

This tour was a great disappointment! The guide was sweet but her English was poor and so very difficult to understand. We were shown very little of Florence. We were not taken to Piazzale Michel Angello, Ponte Vecchio, and while we were promised we would not be quieting for anything if we wanted to go inside the Church of Santa Croce (?) where Dante, Michel Angelo etc are buried we would have to do so ourselves in the one hour free, of course this was impossible as the que was so long I doubt we would have been able to go in before the hour was over. Also the time in the Academy was way too brief, with only about 10 mins to see master pieces such as the David, La Pieta and the prisons is simply not enough. Frankly I would have preferred not to have the free hour and have been taken to Piazale Michell Angelo, Ponte Vecchio but especially go into the Church of Santa Croce and have more time in the Academy, even if it meant having a shorter lunch. Speaking of lunch it was the best part of this tour, it was delicious.

Excellent tour. It was a bit short on Naples, but we loved Pompeii, and we were fortunate to have a great guide.
