Like many people comment about most fado "tours," this tour offers very poor value for your money. I paid close to $90 US and was supposed to get a "3-hour" fado show and dinner. First of all, we were driven around Lisbon, wasting a bunch of time looking at things that we had seen and heard about before, probably in an attempt to justify the price. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:30 rather than 9:00, as we should have. We did NOT get three hours of fado, which was one of the big reasons that I had booked this tour. We were only at the restaurant for 2 hours and 15 minutes, and during that time there were 4 short fado sets. The fado was fine, but overall, the tour and night was grossly overpriced. The food was limited in quantity, limited in the choices, and pretty normal or mediocre. I do not begrudge musicians earning a living, but given that the food was worth about 20 dollars, I would say that the tour/evening was grossly overpriced. I would never do it again, and would not recommend it to anyone, unless you think $90 for a bit of mediocre food and a bit of fado is a reasonable deal. It is outright false advertising to say that one is getting a 3-hour fado show.
Driver was great and so was the new mini-van. The greeter was waiting and nice too. Strangely though, I was made to wait a long time for "other passengers," I was told. After about an hour, the greeter said the others had finally arrived and that I could go to the van. I was then taken to the van, and I was the only passenger in the van. Thus, why was I made to wait an hour for "other passengers"? It seemed to me that in reality I had really been waiting for a van and driver to show up. Overall impression: far slower than taking a taxi, but less potential for being overcharged.
