Avila and Segovia Day Trip from Madrid

My Review: Fantastic! These cities are beautiful - every bit as good as Toledo. Segovia especially is great. The only downside is that for the eight hour tour, four of the hours are spent on the bus. The tour is in both English and Spanish simultaneously, which is a little bit of a drag. We had a tour guide who unfortunately catered much more to the Spanish-speaking part of the group. There were 40 people on the tour, and it seems as though the cost of the bus is the major expense, so why not have two guides, one in Spanish and one in English? I would definitely do it again, but I would likely skip Avila and go right to Segovia.

My Review: The card works really well for the museums. We figured that if you go to four museums or tourist sites, the card has paid for itself. Also, the tourist bus that is included is great. There are two routes that take in a lot of the city, and you can get on and off at the stops all day long. The only bad part about the bus is that the traffic in Madrid is so bad, the bus takes about 90 minutes to make a loop, or three hours to do both loops. There is an audio tour on the bus in eight languages, including English, so if you ride the bus on your first day there, you'll know which sites you want to see.

Toledo Half-Day or Full-Day Trip from Madrid

My Review: Toledo is a fantastic little town about an hour outside of Madrid. The staff at the travel company were attentive and friendly. The tour is a little frustrating in that there is an awful lot of time on the bus and only about ninety minutes in Toledo itself. The last forty five minutes is spent in an absolute tourist trap of a shop where you are slightly coerced into buying something. Also, the tour is presented in English and Spanish by the same tour leader. The half day tour is plenty. The tour leaves at 3:00 p.m. and gets back about 7:00 p.m. with no meal. Still, I would definitely do it again.

My Review: This is a must if you plan on seeing a bunch of museums. Each museum costs 4-10 euros, which really adds up. The tourist board where you redeem your voucher is right across the street from the port and easy to find. The pass does not include the main tour bus, however - just a discount.
