Newcastle Coastal Walk
Travel Recommendation
Location: New South Wales
My Recommendation Tip:
Newcastle has some beautiful beaches and coastal scenery. From Newcastle Beach there's a lovely walk which extends for several kilometres north and south, with plenty of great views along the way. I preferred the northern section though, and when I was there I was lucky enough to see some pelicans and dolphins. From Newcastle Beach it's an easy stroll to Nobby's Beach. If you have time it's worth stopping along the way to take a tour of Fort Scratchley. Then continue walking on past the lighthouse to the end of the breakwater. This is a nice place to view the sun setting over the harbour.

Mole Creek Caves
Travel Recommendation
Location: Tasmania
My Recommendation Tip:
Beautiful limestone caves located just over an hour from Launceston. It's worth visiting both Marakoopa Cave and King Solomons cave because they're both very different. Marakoopa Cave has an active creek running through it, some beautiful rimstone pools and glowworms. King Solomons cave is more colourful, and has some stunning formations - particularly the shawls.

Freycinet National Park
Travel Recommendation
Location: Tasmania
My Recommendation Tip:
Freycinet National Park is a great place to visit to enjoy spectacular coastal scenery. There's plenty of good walks, beautiful unspoiled beaches and no shortage of photo opportunities. It's well worth the climb up to Wineglass Bay lookout, the postcard like views are stunning. Some of my other favourite places within the park included Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay, and Cape Tourville.

Port Arthur
Attraction
Location: Hobart
My Review: I've been to Port Arthur twice, and I'm sure I'll be back again some day for another visit. Some amazing ruined buildings, particularly the Penitentiary, the Guard Tower and the Church. Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to see some of the beautiful scenery nearby as well. Tesselated Pavement, Devils Kitchen, Tasman Arch and Remarkable Cave are all well worth a visit.

Cradle Mountain National Park Day Tour from Launceston
Tour / Activity
Location: Launceston, Australia
My Review: Cradle Mountain is a beautiful place to visit. Would have loved to spend longer at Dove Lake though, an hour isn't really enough. I quite enjoyed the stopover at Sheffield on the way back.

Photographic Tip for Cloudy Weather
Travel Recommendation
Location: New Zealand
My Recommendation Tip: If there's lots of clouds in the sky head straight for the nearest body of water (sea, lake or river). There's plenty of low clouds in New Zealand, and chances are you'll be able to get some great shots.

National Museum of Australia
Attraction
Location: Canberra
My Review: Highly recommended for anyone interested in architecture. The National Museum of Australia is truly amazing structure! I must have spent at least an hour just staring at the building from different angles. Although I was blown away by the architecture, I have to say that the quality of some of the exhibitions was a bit of a let down though. They were some interestingly displays, but overall the collection wasn't quite as engaging or innovative as I'd been expecting.

Melbourne Architecture
Travel Recommendation
Location: Melbourne
My Recommendation Tip: Melbourne has arguably the best and most diverse modern architecture in Australia. The crazy geometery of Federation Square is a good starting point, and there's plenty of other interesting buildings within walking distance. Some of my favourite buildings include the Melbourne Recital Centre, the Melbourne Theatre Company and Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. It's also worth visiting Eureka Skydeck (particularly at sunset) as it gives you a totally different perspective of the city from above.

Great Ocean Road
Attraction
Location: Melbourne
My Review: Some of the best coastal scenery you'll see anywhere. The 12 Apostles and London Bridge were my favourites, but there's no shortage of lesser known lookouts to stop at along the way. A must do for everyone who visits Melbourne.

Melbourne Aquarium
Attraction
Location: Melbourne
My Review: Worth the price of admission just to see the King and Gentoo penguins, which you won't see in any other Australian aquariums. It was quite a sight seeing the Gentoo penguins race each other - they were swimming through the water with bullet like speed. The King penguins weren't as active but there was something majestic about their appearance, even when they were waddling across the ice. Other highlights included the sharks, stingrays and turtles.

National Gallery of Victoria
Attraction
Location: Melbourne
My Review: Without a doubt one of the best art galleries in Australia. I've travelled down from Sydney on a number of occasions to see some of the exhibitions on display. A word of warning though - some of blockbuster exhbitions can get extremely busy, particularly if you visit during the school holidays. You can however purchase tickets online for these exhbitions, which greatly reduces the amount of time you spend queuing up.

Rotorua Eco Thermal Small Group Full-Day Tour
Tour / Activity
Location: Rotorua, New Zealand
My Review: A day full of stunning scenery. The highlight was Waimangu Volcanic Valley - the Frying Pan Lake there was simply breathtaking. Wai-O-Tapu was also very beautiful, as were the various lakes. The guide was excellent - he was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining the history of the area.

Ruakuri Cave Experience from Auckland
Tour / Activity
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
My Review: The driver was very knowledgeable, and provided some interesting commentary en route to the caves. Thoroughly enjoyed the cave tour itself. Some beautiful formations, and the small group size really added to the experience.

Margaret River, Caves, Wine and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse Tour from Perth
Tour / Activity
Location: Perth, Australia
My Review: This is a great tour to do if your time is limited, and you only have a day to see Margaret River. The rugged coastline around Cape Leeuwin is stunning. Mammoth Cave is very beautiful, although the cave tour was a little short for my liking it would have been nice to spend another 10 or 15 minutes there. Had a nice stroll along the jetty at Busselton and watched the sunset over the bay.
