What You Can Expect
Spend time at leisure here, doing whatever you please. Perhaps admire the charming streets, or stroll to finding Saint Remy’s best monuments, such as St Paul de Mausole. This gorgeous Romanesque monastery was formerly a psychiatric hospital that treated St Remy’s most famous ex-resident -- Van Gogh -- when he cut off his ear. Entrance fees to any monuments are at your own expense.
Continue your tour by minibus to the cliff-top village of Les Baux de Provence to admire its picture-perfect views. History is set into the stones here, and as you walk around at your leisure you'll have time to imagine its medieval heyday as a fortified town – protected from the ceaseless conflict that raged around Provence. Wander around its ancient cobblestoned streets, soaking up the town’s history and charm, and perhaps visit the remains of Château des Baux – the town’s fortress – at your own expense.
Return to Aix in the early afternoon, and finish your tour back at the start point.
