Tours, sightseeing tours, activities & things to do | Viator.comDrive through Rosheim, Boersch and Ottrott, picturesque villages along the Alsace Wine Route. Rosheim is famous for its church, Saint Pierre and Paul, jewel of the romantic art of the 12th century. Boersch not only features 3 surrounding gateways from the 14th century, but also a Town Hall of Renaissance style with a staircase turret and an angle oriel. All Alsacians know of the Rouge d'Ottrott, the only real red wine in Alsace, but not everyone knows that the village has retained numerous half-timbered houses of Renaissance style.
Drive through the forest of the Vosges Mountain to Mont Sainte-Odile and visit the convent of the "Patron Saint of Alsace". Odile was born blind and miraculously recovered her eyesight while being christened at the age of 12. In 720 she surrendered her soul to God and the site became a place of pilgrimage.
Descend to Obernai the 2nd most visited place of north Alsace after Strasbourg. City Hall is easy to recognize with a unique carved stone balcony and decorated bow window. Visible from the market square is the Corn Exchange House, whose bell was used to announce the opening and the closing of the market.
Visit the famous Castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg, impressive fortress of the 12th century offering views of the plain of Alsace. The Castle was the residence of several eminent proprietors including members of the Habsbourg dynasty and the German emperor Wilhelm II. It is one of the most visited National Monuments in France.
Journey through the Wine Route to Riquewihr, the "Pearl of the vineyard" listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Surrounded by vineyards including the Grand Cru Wines "Schonenbourg" and "Sporen", nestling in a fold of green hills, Riquewihr personifies the union of the pleasure of fine wines from prestigious vineyards with well preserved architecture.
To end the trip a wine tasting is offered by renowned wine producer Dopff and Irion.
