Amsterdam Canal Boat Hop-On Hop-Off Tour with Rijksmuseum Ticket

Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam

Known as the Venice of the North, Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canals cover a distance of some 62 miles (100 kilometers) through the city. So what better way to discover them than on your hop-on hop-off canal boat? Choose from a 24-hour or 48-hour sightseeing pass, and then board your boat at one of Amsterdam’s 19 canal stops on 4 different lines. Then, all that’s left to do is hop on and off as many times as you like, making use of discounted entry to the city’s show-stopping museums and attractions.

From the comfort of your canal boat, sit back and listen to the entertaining audio commentary as you cruise along. Learn about Rembrandt House, Anne Frank Museum, Rijksmuseum, Jewish Historical Museum, Holland Casino and much more.

Both passes include entry to Rijksmuseum – the Dutch national museum – located on the Museumplein. Dedicated to the Netherlands’ arts, crafts and history, the museum is perhaps best known for its enticing collection of Dutch Golden Age paintings. Hop off your canal boat and then head inside to see incredible works of art like Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and Johannes Vermeer’s The Love Letter. 5 star rating: Highly Recommended August 2013

This is a great way to see Amsterdam. We went in peak season and on a hot day, so expected massive crowds, but still the canal boats coped and we were always able to get a seat whenever we hopped on at a stop around the city. Choose your colour as there are 4 different routes. The green and red are best and stay onboard first time, for the whole journey, so you get a feel as to what there is to see, then pick you places to visit and get on and off at those. Rijksmuseum is superb stop. The local markets are excellent too. Anne Frank House gets busy so for most of the day, the lines outside are too long and the canal boat takes you right to it, so if you see long lines, stay on the boat and see something else, and try and see Anne Frank House in the morning early when it opens as crowds are less then. The whole 48 hours we had the tickets, we went everywhere and great value for money and when the weather is nice, unbeatable way to see Amsterdam.
