Head to the Port of Amsterdam at your chosen time for your 1.5-hour cruise along Amsterdam's harbor. When you board the boat, pick up a guide booklet about the attractions you’ll see on your route, and then take a seat on deck or inside the lower cabin.
Your captain will point out key sights as you cruise around the historic 13th-century port, an important trade area that the Dutch East India Company used for centuries. Admire the Neo-Renaissance architecture of Amsterdam Central Station and then pass Muziekgebouw, a futuristic glass-fronted music hall on the water. Just behind this is the much-loved Bimhaus jazz venue.
Notice the city’s old and new architecture merge as you head to northern Amsterdam along the IJ waterfront. Here you’ll see warehouses, docks and boat yards that were built in the Golden Age and used by the Dutch East India Company during the Netherlands' trading days. You’ll also pass the post-modernist canal houses of Java Island, a neighborhood on one of Amsterdam's peninsulas.
After 1.5 hours exploring the harbor, glide back to a central Amsterdam canal to end your cruise.
