Would have liked to do the city tour by boat but we would have missed Rembrandt's windmill which was very interesting.

It was nice to get out of Amsterdam and see the villages. Volendam and Marken are definitely geared toward tourists! It would have been better to have the tours back to back in lieu of the 2 hour break in between.

Should have been explained that this is not one tour but two tours made to look like one. This means changing coaches and standing in crowd to board again. Our first tour was late back so fighting for seats together.

Interesting view of countryside around Amsterdam. Guide amazingly competent in English, Spanish and French. You get to see windmills although not actually working and clogs being made on a lathe. A bit touristy but some good photo opportunity stops. Good to hear a little of the real Netherlands very different from laid back Amsterdam. Very comfortable coach with good viewing platform.

Visiting the areas in Amsterdam by bus was informative and a complement to touring by the canal bus. Although this was during the 'off season', seeing the other areas of Holland made it complete to get a good feel between the city and the countryside.

This tour was very good.

It was a great trip especially the trip to Volendam and Marken. However, it would be nicer if the time allocated for visiting the windmills was a little bit longer.

This tour had the potential to be fantastic, but unfortunately it was our least favourite out of the 22 tours we did on our Europe trip. We had trouble finding the starting point to begin with, and the tour guide spoke in 5 or 6 languages so it took a long time to wait for it to come around to English again. Also, our tour guide had such a thick Dutch accent that it was really hard to understand her English. The rain and hail put a gloom over the countryside and boat ride and we didnt have much time to explore Marken but had a little too long at the first windmill site and diamond factory. A good overview of both country and city if you have limited time.

All the places are interesting, but it felt a bit impersonal.

The description of tour was not clear, and the extended time frame almost caused us to miss another paid-for activity. The city tour was on an open-air city bus with a stop at a diamond factory, followed by a two-hour break before catching the coach for the rest of the tour. Also, a ticket was included for a canal cruise, which wasn't mentioned, so that had to be squeezed in. The stops were interesting, even if they were rushed, but the big thing is that Viator needs to explain the tour better.

The trip to the Zaanse Schans windmills was the best part of the trip. Could have skipped the trip to Volendam and Marken. Needed to spend more time at Zaanse Schans.

The tour was good, except most of the things that we saw were actually free and we didn't have much time to see the windmill which was a disappointment. Apart from that it was good to have travel arranged and to experience the countryside.

The trip to Zaanse Schans and Volendam was pretty cool. Marken was just okay, and the Amsterdam City tour was not really worth the time.
Reviewed by: Loren L, United States of America, February 2008
The Amsterdam City tour was worth the experience; however, there was nothing too spectacular at Zaanse Schans and Marken except for the wooden shoe factory, a few windmills in the background, and the dikes. Volendam was a quaint town, and we basically just had lunch there and spent an hour around the harbor.
