We booked a 3 hour walking tour to start at 10 a.m. We ended up being the only 2 people on the tour, we were grateful the tour was not cancelled. It was one of the most interesting walking tours we have taken in our travels. Our guide Sean was wonderful, he added energy to our tour, his personal touch was so informative. We started our tour at Dam Square and ended in the area near Anne Franks house. The 3 hours just flew by, Sean brought so much background history into everything we were visiting. We covered so much in 3 short hours. If you are a first time visitor to Amsterdam I strongly recommend you take this tour.

It was a great tour with a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. We really enjoyed our time. The route was chosen wisely.
We arrived in Amsterdam on a Saturday afternoon, as first time visitors, and wandered the parks and streets for a few hours amidst all the crazy hustle and bustle, all the while dodging bikes, scooters, cars and trams! The next morning as we walked from our hotel to meet the tour - through streets thickly littered with empty bottles, rubbish and people who hadn't made it home from the night before - none of us was really sure what we thought of the city. By the end of the walking tour, however, we had all fallen in love with Amsterdam and just kept enjoying it more and more in the following days! Our guide was great - very informative, interesting, interested and witty! He really helped us to appreciate the diversity the city offers and to understand the history and nature of the place, including but not only the red light district and coffee shops. By the end of the tour we felt as though we knew so much more about Amsterdam and we were left really well equipped to make the very most of our days there. The coffee stop was relaxing and well chosen, the sites we visited really varied, and the tips given along the way of worthwhile places to spend some time - including several tucked away from the touristy areas - were very welcome. Thanks very, very much!
Great tour, great guide.Approx 3 hours walk with a small group of 7 making it very easy to speak to and hear the guide who was both humorous and informative.well worth it,would recommend to everyone on a visit to Amsterdam.
This tour is a must for the first timer to Amsterdam. Our guide was excellent, readily accepting us into the group despite us being 24hrs late due to flight delays. We were very grateful that we did not have to forgo our booking. The four hour tour covered the social, cultural and economic fabric of the main areas within the city as well as providing an excellent physical orientation allowing us to readily navigate the city over the remaining days of our stay. We strongly recommend this tour.
Terry and Carol Korn
This was an excellent tour. Guide gave us a very educational walk around the main part of the city. Even covered the red light district and took us to a nice cafe for coffee (not a coffee shop). He gave us a lot of good advice for our stay in Amsterdam. At the conclusion of our tour we were at Anne Franks house and our pre purchased tickets were for much later in the day, but our guides good advice was to ask now and they may let us in. Which was the case. Saved us coming back later.
This walking tour is a must do.
The tour guide was funny and informative. It was a fun tour despite the rain.
Our guide (I forgot his name, but he originally hailed from Wisconsin) was outstanding. His talk was very informative and the pace was excellent -- not too fast and not too slow.
We learned a lot about Amsterdam and look forward to exploring more during out next visit based on his recommendations.
Excellent tour. Knowledgeable, informative and friendly guide made the trip an great introduction to Amsterdam.
The guide was great and really knowledgeable of the city. Since the tour is in the morning, when you walk through the Red Light District it is not as busy as it would be at night so the shock factor for naive people like me was less. This is a really great way to see most of the city and its main attractions.
I bought this tour for my husband and me. We landed in the early hours of a Saturday morning in February and rushed straight to Dam square for the tour. From start to finish, the tour was fantastic. We were visiting out of peak time, so our group was very small (there were just 5 of us) and Terry really catered to our every need. Terry who is originally from Ireland has been living in Amsterdam for a number of years and knew a huge amount about the city and and its history. He was willing to answer all manner of questions about all the areas we walked through. The tour allowed us to see all important areas of the city and meant that during our short stay there we felt confident to explore the city on our own during our stay. Great value for money- I would definitely recommend this!!
This was our first morning in Amsterdam and the lovely tour guide Esther did not disapoint. Her tour was entertaining and her knowledge amazing. Being a local, she was happy to recommend places to go and see. The 3 hours flew by and we wished it was longer, as her company was so much fun. Many of the things she told us has retained in our memory, so we could recognise places again and again with the history day after day! Please book this tour if visiting as it's a great way to see the city, understand it's history and have fun whilst doing so, but ask for Esther! Thank you for a great tour.
Unfortunately,I have missed my walking tour due to a delay of my flight from JFK airport to Schiphol and I was only in Amsterdam for a couple of hours so I couldn't even catch on a different day...
But I still want to congratulate the Viator team for the professionalism in its services and I will for sure book other guided tours with you guys. Great service, keep it up...
Thank you very much
Despite relentless cold rain this was the highlight of our visit to Amsterdam. Terry, the guide is a charming, eloquent man with an amazing memory and innate understanding of just what visitors want to know. The actual walking is minimal - you don't stray more than 5 minutes from Damm square- so be prepared to stand around-but you can't fail to be entertained, informed and amazed. Don't miss it!
