Excellent trip - buy a French stick in Ghent and eat as you go and then you have plenty of time to see everything including the Castle. Enjoyed the canal cruise in Bruges

We were on the Antwerp/Brussels excursion but because of demonstrations in Brussels we had to go to Bruges instead, so we never got to Ghent. Bruges was very picturesque and quaint. According to the driver of the carriage that took us around town, they thank the Canadians for saving their city from the Germans in WWII. A long day, but worth it!

Excellent! Really enjoyed it and it gave me a chance to see Belgium, likely not otherwise possible. Timing was great, very professionally run tour. Appreciated attempts to make sure people were quiet on the road. I have no complaints whatsoever. Perhaps avoid making restaurant recommendations though -- most places can't accommodate the group and some people were turned away. Recommending places to eat is hard to do successfully. Overall, I recommend the day trip highly and think it was marvelous. Appreciate the host and driver greatly. WONDERFUl experience.

These are two interesting towns that shouldn't be missed. We had been to Bruges before and couldn't wait to visit again. It is incredibly charming and a joy to explore. As for Ghent, because we were there during the Feast of Flanders, it took longer to get into town, resulting in less time to see the city- only 45 minutes. We spent our time climbing the tower at the cathedral, while it may have an amazing view, it is a tough climb and the staircase is insanely narrow. If you are on a tight schedule, skip it and see other points of interest.

The tour to Ghent and Bruges was a perfect way to take a break from walking around Amsterdam. The tour guide was very knowledgeable in the history of both cities. Unfortunately, there was a lot of road construction going on in the center of Ghent which didn't make for the prettiest of pictures but we managed to make the best of it. Bruges was another story, however. It was a very lovely, clean city and our guide recommended that we take the boat ride on the Bruges canals to get a real flavor of the city. And she was right on! We highly recommend that you not miss the opportunity to take this side trip to Bruges and Ghent where the construction is to be completed this summer.

Ghent was nice but in all I think we had about 1 hr 15 minutes there and only 1 hour to spend walking around. It was enough time to check out one of the famous grand churches and then walk around the city a little, but more time there would have been nice. The highlight of the trip was Bruges. It's an amazing city, so old and medieval. The boat ride was very scenic and really a very beautiful tour. We really liked it there and I think the 3 hours we had to walk around the city was enough time. As for the bus ride part of the tour, that was good. Better than I expected really. The bus was very new, modern and clean. I highly rate for long journeys. It was about 3 1/2 hours returning from Bruges to Amsterdam.
