Windmill at Zaanse Schans

April 2015

A few of the windmills working on the Kalverringdijk, at Zaanse Schans, on a perfect spring day, on a tour that was great fun!

Zaanse Schans, Holland

November 2014

We were able to enter one of the windmills and see it in operation close up.

Zaanse Schans, Holland

November 2014

Our day trip ended at Zaanse Schans where several windmills have been preserved; most of them still in operation.

Edam, Holland

November 2014

This photo was taken during our walk through Edam. There are so many photo opportunities of quaint canals and small shops.

Volendam, Holland

November 2014

In Volendam, we were able to wander around for an hour or so before lunch. Volendam is a wonderful little town with so many quaint little shops and restaurants. There are so many photo opportunities. This is a must see when you visit Amsterdam.

Volendam, Holland

November 2014

This photo was taken in Volendam after we disembarked from the Marken/Volendam ferry. Apple pie and cream were served on the ferry along with coffee. In Volendam, we were served lunch at one of the many restaurants along the promenade.

Marken, Holland

November 2014

There are two things you absolutely must do when you visit Amsterdam; one is rent a bicycle and cycle around Amsterdam and the other is to experience this day trip to the Dutch countryside. This photo was taken before boarding the passenger ferry from Marken to Volendam.

Windmills at Zaans Schans

April 2014

While a tourist trap, Zaans Schans was the best way to view windmills. The tour did well to focus on what we were there for (windmills) without wasting time with the other distractions, which could be accessed elsewhere in Holland.

April 2014

After lunch and touring in Volendam and Edam, we headed to Zaans Schans for the windmills in that area.
