An economical and safe way to see Ghent and Bruges as opposed to making all the train connections on your own. We were given ample free time to explore and shop Unfortunately, Ghent was having a festival the day we went and was cram-packed with people and tents selling junk from China and Africa. We were allowed time to eat lunch there but since there was 'standing-room only' at all available cafes, it was not as enjoyable as it could have been. Schedule the trip during non-festival days to enjoy the city sights better. Go in off-seasons to fully enjoy the atmosphere of old Bruges and Ghent, unless you don't mind being crammed in like sardines with other tourists. Bruges is also beautiful in the winter. In addition to the beautiful churches and sites, be sure to enjoy Belgian frites, fabulous chocolates and tapestry shops in Bruges!

Eleven hours round trip on a bus to see these two towns was a waste of time. Ghent is a very dirty town with very little to offer. Bruges was some what better. The tour guide kept telling us how nice they were for letting us off at the places they were so that we did not have to walk very far, over and over and over.

For the amount of people on the bus the lady leading the tour could not be heard when she was speaking to the tour members. The time in Ghent was too short and would have been better spent if the tour had just gone to Bruges.

The tour guide was neither enthusiastic nor informative.

Waiting for and finding the right bus was unpleasant. It was a very long ride without anything interesting on the way. I found it stressful to have a strict meeting time for the ride back, mainly due to the threats to leave us there. We were left at the boat ride in the rain as our only option in Brugges with no directions to museums or other attractions. A map with our meeting place would have been helpful.
