Sampurna Indonesian Cuisine
It is said that Amsterdam is the best place to get Indonesian food outside of Indonesia. This was a first for us and we really enjoyed our dinner. They were very busy. I suggest you make reservations. This is the preset menu Batara Rijsttafel for 2 people. With drinks it was 67 euros.
Rembrandt House
Don't miss this museum. The furnishings are a re-creation, but to see the spot where rembrandt painted many of his masterpieces as a priceless experience. And admission is included in the I Amsterdam Card
Esnoga: Portuguese Synagogue
The Jewish Museum and the Synagogue are located very close to the Rembrandt House. My husband and I had never been into a Synagogue before and this was a great, quiet, non-crowded experience. I plan to go to the Resistance Museum and the Jewish Museum on our next trip to Amsterdam.
Van Dobben
The I Amsterdam Card includes a voucher for a free croquette at Van Dobben. There are two locations, one off of Rembrandtsplein and one at Keukenhof. The voucher is good at the location in the city. It was difficult to find and it smelled like a butchery. We were still hungry after eating. I don't think I will go back.
Amsterdam Historic Museum
Admission is included with the I Amsterdam Card. The displays are arranged in suspended plexy-glass boxes making the objects viewable from all angles, but the lighting makes the glare so bad that it is difficult to see without something to block the light. I want to go back in the morning... maybe the light would be better? and You need more than an hour to go through the museum.
Great pass, lots of great sites on it. The canal cruise was our favorite. Read more ›
